anyone towing 5-max tow load with a 21/22 with magnetic ride control suspension? Trying to figure out how bad of a squat ill be dealing with with my 2022 RST burb when it actually gets here. I do plan on getting a aluminum enclosed trailer at some point so I know a good weight distribution hitch will do wonders.

I'm interesting in more towing reviews with a Suburban or Yukon XL. I'd prefer not to have the air suspension because a good coil spring and shock/strut combo should be sufficient.

With the magnetic ride control suspension, don't you also get the air lift rear shocks and a built-in compressor as well?

I believe vehicles can be optioned with MRC but without air suspension.

Personally, I'd rather have an air suspension system that supplements traditional coil springs. If the air suspension fails, at least the vehicle won't be squatting on the ground when unloaded.

I've towed one time so far with our '21 XL with regular coil shocks and it's pretty obvious that these rigs will need some kind of air bag/helper spring. I towed a 2 door ford explorer sport on a 10k tilt deck and the sag was pretty obvious. Plenty of power and stopped just fine (even though I have no max tow or even a trailer brake controller) but the sag is real...

Unfortunately, I don't think either of those options change the spring rate which is the problem here. With a IRS design, I think there are limited locations where an aftermarket company would be able to implement an air bag.

How much do you think a WDH would have helped in your case?

doesn't look too terrible at least. We picked the max tow option with the 6.2l. I think with a good WDS we should be ok.......I hope

I had honestly never heard of a WDH and just had to hit up google to see what you were talking about. Can't say I fully understand how those work but they appear to combat the sagging issue. That said, I have hauled at least 30 different vehicles on this trailer and a deckover before that and never had any issue to speak of. Mostly used our 2011 suburban z71 and it sagged way worse than this new rig. Also never had a trailer brake controller either. Never an issue with braking, stopping or swaying in 10+ years (knock on wood). I have extreme confidence in my towing abilities/situational awareness but I may upgrade this new rig to at least have a brake controller installed.

I would highly recommend a trailer brake controller. I think most states require functioning trailer brakes on trailers over 3000/4000#.
