hey all,
sorry in advance for my TYF amateurism & if this isn’t the right forum for my topic to bring my truck shame in. i doubt there even is a proper forum to discuss what to do with 48 codes. so here goes, any help would be appreciated tenfold. even more idk. a lot.

so i own a heaping metal hunk of junk that i love & it’s a 2007 gmc yukon denali 6.2… i love this truck more than any other ice owned because i brought her back from the dead .

moving along now - i’ve graduated way past the get her running stage to now it was time to hook up a dreaded obd & see what all those DIC messages were about. so i anticipated some work but not 48 codes worth of it. most of which i presume are results of one another. (i.e.- when i changed my o2 sensors - 8 codes disappeared with them… knock sensors, mainly fuel codes, gas cap, etc etc etc. ) so maybe im ignorant to the electrical/computer aspect of things but i hope im correct. but even if i am i haven’t a clue where to start.

i’ve got A TON of short to ground, short to battery codes. now on my specific computer i don’t believe i have a way of seeing whether or not these are new codes or history codes… for what it’s worth - i have never cleared them or attempted an ECU reset since having the truck myself. so i would be inclined to believe many could be history from previous owner… i could post all of them but idk if any of you want to go thru each one lol. id be elated if you did. but by no means am i able to pay a fair wage right now lol
so ill post some of the mildly / extremely concerning ones first. please give me thoughts / your suggestions / experiences / knowledge / wisdom / prayers / etc etc

actually i can attach a file. i’m new here. forgive me. ill do that.

Tia!

If you've documented them all and have the list (like all the PDFs) for reference later on, then I would say to clear them and see if they come back.

Others will chime in with recommendations or questions.

I looked at two of them. It looks like at some point the battery went died or was changed out with the key on or something like that anyway. This causes all kinds of crazy codes, especially the lost communication ones as modules shut down due to low voltage or power loss. Modules have different voltage tolerances, some work at 5v, some shut down at 9.6, some at 11v, etc.

You're an excellent candidate for a subscription to AllDataDIY to access the shop manual, the master trouble code list and troubleshooting guide! LOL

If yours were mine, I'd clear all the codes and see what comes back and address those that cause lights on the cluster, like ABS or CEL first.

Is that just a code reader or a bi-directional scan tool? If you're going to keep this, get a bi-directional scan tool like the Tech-2 if you don't already have one.

Merry Christmas!

If you are committed to keeping this truck, purchase a Tech 2 for ~$300. It can read codes, reset codes, and most important, it will help you troubleshoot specific codes, bringing you to a much faster resolution, without just throwing parts at the truck, hoping for a solution.

For example, I got a backup assist code, and using the Tech 2, it told me that it was a backup sensor issue (the 4 sensors on the rear bumper, versus the control module), AND it told me which of the 4 sensors was the one needing to be replaced.

As indicated above, reset all of the codes, drive ~50 miles, and then see what codes re-appear.

this. i want a tech 2! i can’t seem to find one in that price range. i have been looking for quite some time.

it’s not necessarily that i am committed to investing in/keeping this truck so much as i am committed to investing in expanding my knowledge & my skills in this field. its also worth mentioning that i am a strictly GM owners in regards to my choice of vehicle so the tech 2 wouldn’t be a bad investment either way.

yeah, i’m totally aware of what it is capable of doing & i really really want one - i just maybe am not looking in the right places. or is the tech2win the same thing? i read some varying opinions on the tool. unless you have any direction in which you can direct me - id be forever grateful. it would help me big time in locating alot of these headache codes.

thanks :)

Make sure that you purchase one specific to GM, and not some other car/truck brand.
