Got it. Have you ever used the pass through stuff on the Tech 2? I haven’t bothered to dig my old laptop out and get that stuff working.

I wonder if there is anything published by Cali on what they actually are going to compare when they perform the test?
I was reading a story on a sema website yesterday, apparently they will be able to determine the tune by the checksum value:
"BAR, which has had the authority to implement such inspections since 2013, has been gathering information from inspected vehicle ECUs since 2015. The gathered information includes CAL-ID (equivalent to a file name), CVN (equivalent to a checksum), EO status, and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). This accumulated data is the basis upon which failure criteria will be determined. Disputed results will be referred to state-run Referee centers for further inspection."

I can't wait to see how California is gonna go about screwing people with this. I hope your idea works Wes. I'm all about beating big brother.

This past weekend, I started troubleshooting a liftgate that would not open/unlock. Watched a few videos on how to get it open and then completed the switch replacement in the handle. Total cost was $13 for OE part. Added black bowtie to the hatch as well. Picked up some new to me sill plates from an LTZ in a bone yard and swapped out the dash bezel around the radio. The SSV was missing a few trim bits as well that I snagged and upgrade the tweeters in the A-pillar. The past week has a busy time with the 'Hoe. I am picking up a set of side steps on Saturday and planning to Rhino Line them before installing next week. Whew, if this pesky job of mine wasn't so demanding, I could do more!

Went to leave for work this morning, and got a right-rear tire pressure warning. So I have a slow leak. Then I realized it was the right-front tire, which means the tire shop that rotated them a few months ago didn't reprogram the TPMS system. That's the tire I had to plug because the landfill lackey backed me over a load of shingles (with nails) last year.

All these issues because other people don't do their job like they should...:banghead:

I have the TPMS programming tool. But the tires are about due for another rotation. So I won't bother. I guess I'll be playing with tires this coming weekend...sigh.

for me it will work, I don't have any engine mods like dod delete or anything just swapped the throttle body for a ls7 one and a cai, the BB tune is the issue because I doubt they have a carb certification. I think where it's going to be a issue the most is used car dealers who have no idea if a vehicle is tuned or internally modded or if buying from out of state and upon import to the state come to find a problem, for instance I have been looking for a G8 or a SS and there are some with a supercharger, etc both in & out of state and no telling of it will pass smog or not....when a cam or other things are added a tune is required and so it's anyone's guess.

Maybe it's time to register in another state with less stringent emissions.

that's risky as well, if you get pulled over and ticketed then you have to prove you live out of state for most of the year or they will make you change the registration to CA or risk loosing your drivers license.

Then actually move out of state. Best of both worlds. Don't come to SC, though. We're full.

Following. I have heard that it works this way for both NBS and NNB, being able to simply swap the ecm. Next time I'm at upull I'm going to pick up a spare ecm and try it on my NBS. Curious about the Theftlock learning; not sure it's in the ecm.
I am unsure as well, but most of what I have been reading in the last few days about Theft Deterrent stuff, it kind of looks like the BCM is where that stuff is controlled.

ya I live here but not one of those "californian's" I was fortunate enough to get to live in other places beside's here I have lived in the boonies, 30 miles from the nearest gas station, been homeless, lived in many scenarios so I have been around the block a couple times, my preference would be to live somewhere with no rules or regulations of any kind, but those don't exist in this country. and i make a living here that I probably could not much of anywhere else so I'm stuck.

think maybe they left the vent valve unplugged when they changed the tank?
That’s a possibility I hadn’t considered, but I don’t think so. I believe the code takes a certain number of start cycles to set, and it’s only taking a couple of days as much driving as I’m doing. And it did not present for a long time after the fuel pump replacement.

I read somewhere before the vent valves are susceptible to clogging with dust in dirty environments. And that’s all it has seen for a while. I’m not even going to look at it until we leave the desert and I can get the underside cleaned. It’s a filthy mess under there.

If you know someone in another state you could always use their address to get a driver's license from that state, while still living in California. There's ways around everything. I lived in Pa for years but had a Jersey driver's license, but had my cars registered and insured--in my name--in Pa, because it was cheaper to do that. I kept my NJ driver's license because I refused to get a Pa license. For me the only good thing about living in Pa at that time was being able to afford a house there. I never had any issues doing it that way--for years.

yes that is entirely possible, but at the same time it creates other issue's, like having to be a ca resident for certain things, credit, and other misc legal issue's that arise from time to time. For me it would be a big headache.

I hear you. I just wanted to put that out there. Maybe try to establish 6 month residency in another state, then 6 months in California.

If I had to I could use a Oregon address family has property there so it would be relatively easy to do.

It's nothing personal, or about you living in CA. SC is experiencing a housing crisis because of the huge number of people moving here. Everywhere I look there are giant apartment complexes being built, with hundreds of units. Building material prices almost tripled earlier this summer, and have just begun to creep downward. Traffic is ridiculous. Our great state is being ruined. I think they should charge a $10,000 transplant fee to everyone to account for improvements to infrastructure to accommodate these new people.

I think that's going on pretty much every where, I was looking around at maybe buying some property up in Washington State in places I know should be rather reasonable because I have lived up there and prices there are crazy too, so I continue to live in a cesspool of s@hit here and that's no lie, this city and modesto were both on the list of worst places to live in the whole country for years, it may have moved up the list slightly in the last few years but nothing has changed. here is a comparison compared of the rest of the state

I remember when I flew into Sacramento a couple years ago, we stopped at the Walmart up the street from the airport and I was surprised they had mobile cameras up in the parking lot that were police things. Cop at the entrance. Felt very strange to me.
