My 2014 SSV. Purchased last fall with only 62k on it. Outfit for Michigan's sandy roads and our ham radio activity.

Thinking about putting a front brush guard on, and mounting my antenna to that rather than the front hitch.

Long list of mods... Replaced the wrecked front cloth seats with fresh foam and leather. New center console customized for our ham radio install. BFG KO2 tires. Rear 60% seat removed for storage, and eventual bed install. Dual battery with isolator. New stereo (fixed the SSV speaker wiring) and XM. More coming soon.

Looks good, coming along nicely.

Where did you find the new seat foam and leather?
Thanks

Thanks for the kind words!

I'm really happy with the quality and support they gave us in installing the new foam and leather. They sell the seat bottom foam. I could have likely gotten away without replacing the seat back foam, but it was crumbling, so I ordered GM OEM replacements. I think I got them from GM Parts Giant.

We had a lot of rain (finally) in Western Oregon and I just washed a crap ton of pine needles off of it. It's parked under a big Doug Fir so there's also a crap ton of sap on it (it looks great from ten feet away though. ..).

I know it doesnt look much like an SSV...I am sorry I just cant stand those ugly "cop" rims. HAHAHA. Anyway, here she is. 09 Chevy Tahoe SSV 4x4. Cold air intake, Cat-back dual exhaust w/ 2 chamber muffler and 4" tips. The next on list of upgrades are LT headers and nerf bars. I welcome any suggestions.

Looks great, I'm bidding npw for an PPV in Tampa today which I also want to use for Ham radio. Were you able to reuse any of the former police wiring for your radios? Interested in what and how you did it. Jim KK4CWO

None of the radio wiring was left. There was 4 holes in the roof, all plugged with a plastic plug and some kind of adhesive.

GM bonded the vehicle, including a big fat braided ground from the engine to the chassis. The supplemental manual describes the wiring, and the bonding.

I'm currently using 3 of the holes, and have a vague plan for the 4th hole. :D

Good luck. 73 de w8tam

The power wiring was intact on theothertwin, and mostly intact on thecopcar when I got them. The roof holes were plugged as you described. The light bar power feed had a huge hole.

Thecopcar with a setup. Then theothertwin the day I got it. Both twins sporting triple antennas.

Nice! There's enough of hams with PPV/SSVs that we're going to need our own forum. ;)
