Alot of knuckle lifts will rub on the rims but not all do. Rough countrys site will say on its page for the lift the rim or spacer requirements needed my 3.5 rough country knuckle lift needed a .25 inch spacer for the wheels I put on 1.5 in the front and 2 inch in rear to even out the track width. Spacers are fine as long as they are hubcentric and torqued properly. Just remember the bigger the spacer or offset of rims used the wider your scrub radius will be during turning and the worse rubbing will be. My truck didn't rub at all with 33s before lift after lift they scrubbed behind the bumper because of the spacers I just trimmed off part of the liner but it can be heated and reshaped to clear easily.

I'm in the market for a lift for my '08 Z71. I've done a little research and have the 5" rough country lift pegged as the best option. That being said, when it comes to wheels I'm clueless. Currently I have a 2" level with the factory 18" z71 wheels with BFG 33" tires. My goal is to be able to keep the same wheels and when I wear my current tires out maybe bump up to a 34" or 35".

Anybody have experience with this lift, or have any other recommendations? My budget is around $2k for the lift but would consider spending more if it means not having to buy new wheels.

Zone has a 4" combo lift that lets you run 33s on stock wheels. They also have a 6.5" lift that is of excellent quality and durability and maintains the factory ride.

OP is talking a 5” lift. That was what I was responding to, big 4wd lifts.

What’s the difference in a combo lift and a true suspension lift? Combo lifts seem much cheaper.

Honestly, if you are wanting a suspension lift, I would stay away from Rough Country and go with a BDS lift. I had a BDS lift on my '04 Z-71 and can attest that is a top notch lift kit. No issues whatsoever. And remember, you get what you pay for.

What is bad about rough country? I use them and so do alot of other people without problems. I see posts saying not to use them but never a good reason why other than they are cheap but that seems more a reason to use? Just curious

@87carl They used to be a budget brand but they have started to really improve their quality, especially in their shock technology. I will say that I have seen several people with the 7.5 inch lift that have issues with the rear not being lifted enough.

Also, is there any difference between 1500 truck kits and ones listed as Tahoe/Yukon lifts?

@phaley99 Yes the rear ends are different. The front half of the Tahoe and the 1500 are the same but the rear is different.
