Blew up a motor for the first time!

i dropped an intake valve and it went through the piston in my 88 4x4 mazda pickup truck b2600. i dont have the time to rebuild it myself. its just one of my toys so do i drop alot of money to get it rebuilt? or get a junk yard motor? or just sell the bastard?
i love the truck but thats alot of money... that would have gone towards my chevelle

just follow ur heart man lol... nawww but seriously.... ur best bet is to just rebuild it or sell it..... i doubt ur gonna find a decent motor for that truck at a junkyard... hell throw a small block in it and it would be a hell of a toy.... a buddy of mine had one of those trucks they are a blast

Motors for that thing are a dime a dozen. The Mazdas and Ford Ranger were and I think still are one in the same. They both used the Mazda 2.9 V6 (which was a pretty good little motor). They are findable. They also aren't that expensive or difficult if you did decide to rebuild yourself. Does yours have the 2.9 or is it the 4 banger?

well, one of the issues is that that isn't necessarily a mazda motor.

that is probably still the mitsubishi 2.6, and there are two different blocks with different bellhousing patterns. it makes it hard to find a junkyard engine, they were already hard to find 15 years ago.
Ad that means you can't easily swap to the smaller mazda 2000, or 2200 engine either. they won;t bolt up to the trans, the engine accessories, manifolds etc, nor even the motor mounts IIRC.
You can sleeve the block if needed.
Your best bet though is to get a mitsubishi specialist to assemble it.
