Thank you and I apologize for all the questions. Just trying to take advantage of what works for you. When you do the passenger side could you take a picture of the size foam you are using. I think I made improvements but certainly not fixed.

Are you using two strips so it can be thicker? In the bottom pick of the foam is that one strip or 2 on top of each other? And it looks like you are pushing in so it is perpendicular lengthwise vs running long ways along the rectangle of the sun roof.

Yep, I'm using two strips. The bottom pic shows them together. Its just enough to fit really snug up against those white clips. I tried to show the clips, and before/after of shoving in the foam. I don't think position really matters as much as the amount. Just as long as its snug to prevent movement of headliner.

Everything feels tight now and I don't get that creaking sound by gently pushed up on headliner. We could always add more at different locations, but to me it seems the sounds generate from the connector location.

I don't think GM has fully thought out everything with the panoramic roofs. Has GM ever used a pano roof in any of their products before?

I shoved the foam right where those white plastic connectors are. You can pull down the headliner just enough to place the foam.

In the front I placed two earplugs in-between headliner. That area also makes similar noises.

Same. I think the problem is fixed but haven’t driven enough over the last week to say for sure. Definitely better than it was.

I don't think GM has fully thought out everything with the panoramic roofs. Has GM ever used a pano roof in any of their products before?

Gen 1 Cadillac SRX has just entered the room.

The foam seems to have fixed the problem. Do you all still plan to have the dealer look at this or just leave as is with foam?

I will leave the ceiling alone for now, but I have creaking on interior door panels. Unfortunately, foam is not an option there. I'll be taking it in for that issue and the rear GMC projection/illumination light. It's starting to fade away.

This truck is really making it difficult to keep long term.

Update: I Will take it back to dealer for headliner. It started creaking again this morning.

I will listen to see if I notice a difference. For the foam I found I had to put foam that was thick and barely fit when being pushed in. The first couple of times I tried I didn’t notice a difference and don’t think my foam was big enough to stop the sound. Mine was primarily on rear passenger side and that seems to have gone away. I did notice above my head when driving the other day a couple of times so added foam there. I’ve got car seats installed now so I get a lot of noise that that stuff too.

I think its worse only because the sounds reflect more off the glass.

Anybody bring this up to dealer / get a response? Any TSB yet? It is now all that I notice while driving.

I was without my truck for 30 of the 90 days(safety restraint, Exhaust issue/muffler replacement, 3rd row Headrest issue, brake reprogram recall) that I have owned it. I have issue fatigue at the moment.

You guys see if the below makes sense to you........

Yesterday I did some more testing and found some interesting results. The white clips are two pieces. The top part of the clip actually is installed in a track around the pano and is the female part of the clip. You can slide it back and fourth along the track the entire length of the pano. The bottom part of the clip is the male end and snaps into the headliner trim in certain places. There are 4 clips on each side of the pano. The clips are extremely fragile and break very easily. The part of the clip that breaks is actually up in the pan frame track. You will notice a clip is broken when the top part of the clip will no longer stay in the upper pano frame. While trying to reposition my foam I broke 2 of the 4 clips. I popped out the middle two clips that were broken and used some foam (1/4" thick) on each side of where they "would be". This morning there was no noise on my 30 mi commute to work. It seems like the more you reposition your foam, the more the noises move around. Again, it seems like the white clips and how they fasten in the pano frame are the culprit. My next test will be removing all 4 clips on either side and see how that works. They don't seem to really be doing too much. I might even consider adding some velcro.

It is 100% the clips. On the way home heard the noise again. Removed the 3 clips twards the front on both sides. Zero noise.

Great information! Thank you for digging into this further! This is so annoying to me and I already have another service appointment next week. I was going to remove all my foam so the technician can hear the noise. It seems to get worse when temps drop. I've reported this at my last two service appointments, but they say could not duplicate.

I’ve got about 2 hours in vehicle Sunday without anyone else so will see if I hear with the foam I have up there currently.

And I think if I took the foam out I could replicate the sound within a matter of minutes...but would probably the one and only time It didn’t make the sound.

What if we put felt tape in between the male and female clips? I can't tell if the noise generates from friction between the clips or from the female(top) clip and aluminum pano frame? Or both.
