Back in 1959, we moved down to Calif.... ( From Victoria, BC )....
In our Canadian-built '56 red/white "Ply-Dodge"..... Back was a Dodge body, front was a Plymouth.....

( beats me...... What happened?..... Did they run out of body parts? )

Ok. So I left the house today, after letting the Yukon warm up for 10 minutes or so.. I drove about 3 blocks from my house, and turned a corner.. DING DING DING DING.. the dreaded sound. DIC said “DRIVER DOOR AJAR”, and the motor shutoff! I coasted to the right, and came to a stop. No idea went wrong. She started right back up, and no further issues running a few errands, but wtf. I know I need to do the big 3, but other than that, any ideas? I’m imagining this happening as I’m pulling into traffic to merge on the highway or some shit..!

Went to the junkyard in search of the little storage compartment where that remote tape deck goes for when I get a double DIN.

Found one in a Silverado. The best part is that I found someone's secret stash. That must be why they cut a hole in the back of the compartment.

It does pay to go to the junkyard, in more ways than one.

Cut my trans filter open

Hardly anything in there. Some very fine metallic debris on the filter. The fine stuff. Coarse bits were from my saw, don't mind those. Pleats seemed fairly clean

And I can verify these filters have a bypass valve, though an oddly designed one

Was thinking that maybe a restriction issue. So I tossed a line splice in there and ran no filter. Shifted the same.

Soooo my takeaway from this is I think these trans are picker on fluid than they perhaps let on. Kind of backs my previous experimentation with messing with different fluids and noting which ones my trans seemed to like vs. Less so.

Take that info how you will

Also did that power steering hose. Not a bad job at all. Power steering pump side can be annoying if you have big arms. Just Un bolt the swap bar from the frame and you have space to play. Set aside 30 to 45 mins to get it done and bled
