Ride Quality for a Truck ?

I was wondering how much does shock absorbers have on the ride Quality of a Tahoe ?

If you did not have those shocks then you would feel the spring action ALL the time. The better the shock quality the better the feel and handling of your rig.

Yeah, I was wondering how to tell if they are going bad ? Their not leaking, but I'm sure they have seen many a potholes. But in this state, Pennsylvania no one bothers to fix the roads.

Are they the factory shocks? How many miles are on them?

Unless you see the obvious shock leak, you need to remember that shocks lose their ability to function as designed just a little bit at a time over the time you drive the rig. You, as the driver, may take quite a while to finally notice that you need shocks. If they are factory shocks with a lot of miles on them, then invest in a set for your comfort and your tires durability. You don't say what year of rig you have or how many miles. We are guessing like you are right now.

Yeah their the stock set, five years old ? I have a hunch that since the truck was a Lease vehicle, the guy aimed for every pothole ? But they are the stock set.

Change them. My 2017 rears were changed by me an hour ago. I cannot believe the difference in ride quality. Replaced them with same OEM shocks. Fronts are still good for me - you? I'd change both. Let us know what you do/how it turns out!

Also, everybody's definition of 'ride quality' may be different. For example, in my automobile, I like a very stiff suspension, so that I feel every crack and pebble on the road. Others would say that the 'ride quality' of my automobile is terrible, as their backs hurt whenever they ride with me.

Not all shocks deliver the same 'ride quality', as they may have different damping rates and related characteristics, depending on what use case they were designed for. So, I recommend that you clearly define what good 'ride quality' is to you, as you are talking to folks about their preferences for shocks, so that you can be sure that your preferences are aligned with theirs.

Very good point!!! Joseph's idea of ride quality is what I just deleted out of my ride , so yes, you best define your intended outcome!
