Hi, all, been a lurker for about a year now since buying my wife a 2009 Yukon XL Denali. She calls it her "Millennium Falcon". We're replacing her 2002 Suburban Z71 with it, and the difference between the two is night and day, thus the name. This thing takes off like a rocket ship.

We've had a Suburban of some sort since 1994 and really like the platform. Our current '02 Sub has the 5.3L, and it really sucks pulling our hills with 4WD and 17" wheels; we really need room if we want to pass anyone. When I began searching for a replacement, I knew I wanted more than a 5.3L (parents have a '12 Yukon XL SLE, and at nearly 100k miles, I can feel it lacking somewhat). I looked for a while and settled on the '09 model year Denali. 403hp and no AFM. They're fairly scarce in my area, so I had to settle on one with 182k miles. The rest of the vehicle is in pretty good shape, it just has a lot of miles.

We've had our M. Falcon for a year now and love it.

If you have the service records and all service is up to date no worry.

Welcome from Miami Beach K!

Welcome from Miami Beach K!

Thanks! No service records; we purchased it from a used car lot (against my better judgment), and like the real Millennium Falcon, I'm having to work on it. I expected to have to do some engine work, just not so soon.

The dealer we purchased from "rebuilt" the engine a month or so before we bought it. Let's just say their idea of a rebuild and mine are very different. They did what I would call a recondition or a massage. I was hoping to go a little longer before getting into the engine, but here we are (a dropped valve seat).

Thanks to all for the welcome!

...Also as a star wars geek I love the name choice! Haha.

Oh, yeah! Always have been. My wife, too. She decided on the name, so I got her a seatbelt cover that looks like Chewbacca's bandolier and a sticker for the back glass that says "This vehicle made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs." License plate frame that says "never tell me the odds" is coming soon.

Gonna need some power mods quick before somebody calls you out on your new sticker's claim!
HaHa! No doubt! I want to massage the vehicle some, but nothing too wild. I don't think I'll bother with this engine, though. I don't know what's been done to it, and judging by what I've seen of its innards so far, I don't think it would handle very much.

This! I was amazed by how much power this thing has even with ~193k miles on it.
My Denali isn’t stock anymore, but yeah stock is still pretty aw some haha.

Foothills east of Fresno, just below Kings Canyon and Sequoia Parks. High enough for snow, low enough for it to go away within a day or so.
Ah ok cool cool!
