anyone do E-fans on a obs??

i really wanna do some efans havnt found that much on this and kno i can get fans on line for a newer tahoe idk if it will work so anyone thats done this any help would be great!

You kidding? Tim Z made a thread on his e-fan install. They are off of a 06 Tahoe.
Atomic also did a write up when he installed his Flex A Lite e-fans

But you can pretty much install any e-fan out any vehicle. I think the hardest part is mounting them and getting them to look stock.

E-fans

I have a '96 2 door 4wd Tahoe LT ... I got rid of the belt driven clutch fan back when gas prices went crazy . GM was very slow to adopt efan technology. FORD was way ahead using efans on their Taurus SHO , Crown Vics , ect . Back then , the hot ticket was to go to a 'J yard and find a suitable Ford with a efan and pull the fan and some wire harness and You are good to go :) Forget wimpy little dual fan aftermarket here - I'm talking a single Efan so perfect I was able to completely re-use the OEM fan shroud to mount the Ford fan . It looks completely stock . I can post pictures ... Local dealership service advisor was suitably impressed :)

Damn, that looks really good. I see you live in Florida so the fan is more than able to handle high temperatures. What year Taurus is that fan out of?

Efan cont'd

... with the stock belt driven clutch fan , the fan was always "on" here in S. Florida heat. Lots of fan noise all the time too. My A/C never got below 45 .
With the Efan setup , the only time the fan runs is stopped at traffic lights or if left idleing for awhile - ofcourse the fan runs fulltime while the A/C is running . But now it can get down to 40 easy in 95 degree weather - 38 at night no problem . So Efans rule :)

Yea i wrote ya back clean95. bought em off craigslist. But they were super easy to install. Twinturbo man has Permacool if i remember right. Both of em run past 500 bucks each. I never had the fans hit 100% while driving. With the upgraded alternator and big 3, i cant see a dip in my volt gauge either. I love em, i wish i woulda done em sooner.

another excellent fan is the Lincoln Mark VIII fan - this is what I actually used , not a Taurus fan . Sorry for the mixup , I did the Efan thing several times ...

No biggie.

Yeah, from what I have read the Taurus and Mark fans are very popular to do this mod. How easy was it to mount to the stock shroud?

Exactly - I had to go back and check my notes but the Taurus has a smaller fan with less CFM . It did not fit the fan shroud at all in the Tahoe . The Lincoln Mark VIII LSC is what my current fan was pulled from and was meant to cool a performance V8 . It is also just about a perfect fit in the factory shroud previously filled by the stocker clutch fan ... the amount of air the mark VIII fan moves is amazing . The stock shroud fits and directs all air pulled by the fan thru the radiator - A/C condenser - ect like a vacuum effect. The advantage is You are not recirculating already heated air - the shroud prevents it unlike aftermarket that are open with little/no shroudage . The best part about this mod was it only cost me around $40.00 ~ $50.00 .

Very easy to do in an afternoon , I paid $25.00 for my fan at a P&P !! The first efan (Taurus fan) I used looked OK ... it had the open look like a blackmajik or similar efan setup but I wanted to keep the stock look plus having the shroud increases fan efficiency dramatically . With the hood shut and the mark VIII fan running , You can feel air being forced out standing there at either side of the truck.

The Ford efan is wired in where the "FAN MOTOR" is shown in the diagram - You need two bosch relays to split the load and a temp probe thermister to activate/deactivate the fan (where it says TEMP SWITCH) which is mounted to the radiator core . You can control the amount of run time the fan is "ON" by simply varying the placement of the probe ... if You put it next to the radiator inlet , the fan will kick in and run alot . If You mount the probe near the outlet like I did , you let the radiator do most of the cooling and the fan only comes on if there is no air moving through the radiator , like at a traffic light or sitting idle . Turning on the A/C will automatically power on the fan using the supplied wiring diagram plus manual override switch . I don't take the credit for this sweet wiring setup - I found it on the 'net posted by some kind soul :)
Best one I've found to date , and there are many floating around .

And I can only find the fans on ebay for around $55 + shipping.... ANy other places?

Any local Pick & Pay junkyard has vehicles with the Efans We can use ! Let me know - I can pull you one :) Mounting the fan is easy as the factory shroud fits the fan - I'll try to get som pics in the daylight to post
