Hello everyone,

I come among you from France. I own a 2001 Tahoe 5.3 with 125,500 miles.

I ride for several years in American: Pontiac Firebird 1985 V8 5.0 (I sold) and currently a 1994 Jeep ZJ 5.2.

I live in a small village a few miles from Chablis (for French wine lovers).

In addition to my two American SUVs, I also have unknown French vehicles at home:
Renault Espace IV V6 3.5 (Nissan engine)
Renault Clio 1.4
Renault 6 0.8 of 1978 (which was a small car popular in the 70s).

I also had the chance (for the French that I am), to drive a Hummer H1 during my 10 years spent in the army.

I'm here because we do not find much info on the Tahoe in France, where this kind of truck pass for luxury SUVs that are expensive in fuel. (currently about $ 6 / gallon)

Welcome to the club! These are nice lasting trucks if maintenance intervals are kept. There is plenty of info in here if you ever need something. It makes me smile to see there is people like you enjoying American trucks all the way in France. I would love to see people's reaction when you cruise around in a big SUV, since I assume most French people love their small economy cars. Mine is at 225k miles looking to get over 300k with it before doing a 6.0 engine swap with some mods.

What I like about American cars is the comfort, the reliability and the price of the parts, which are very affordable compared to our Europeans.

Indeed, we do not go unnoticed with this kind of truck. I often have fun saying: hoooo you know, I took the small model (compared to the suburban) with the small 5.3
I am generally regarded as a curious beast. :D

My wife prefers her little Renault Clio but she admits that we feel really safe in the Tahoe.

I sometimes watch broadcasts on the US and often see trucks like Silverado or RAM that you use as a work tuck. With us, a RAM rolls quietly in the beautiful district of Paris :p

Bienvenue Monsieur. This is a great place to get any and all info you could possibly want on your Tahoe. Lots of hours worth of reading herein.

Welcome William. See the random media section on the right? I recently saw a newer Tahoe in front of the Eiffel Tower in a photo over there, maybe a 2010 or so.

Thank you for the welcoming.

I started watching some sections of the forum. I have already recovered valuable info.

The tahoe is really a fantastic machine. Mine was made in your beautiful country, then sold new in Italy, to finally finish at home.

We do not have basic finishes on US vehicles, only high finishes have been sold in France in very small quantities.

It's a forest next to my village. There are hunting huts, for my part, I cut my wood for the winters.

My house is an old stone house dating back to 1820.

Of course, I do not go unnoticed with the gabari Tahoe on these small country roads :Big Laugh:

Glad you're here! It's so cool to see big American vehicles running around in Europe, makes me really happy for some reason. Here's a video about someone else who brought a Tahoe to France. Does your experience differ from his? Are Europeans generally this disdainful of people with SUVs?

Already, a new Tahoe LTZ is selling between $ 90,000 and $ 100,000 through an importer. To that you must add $ 11500 of carbon tax.

We have heavy taxes on polluting vehicles. So the vehicles that sell well are average cars and especially diesel. As American SUVs are often big V8 or V6, so you have a strong tax.

If the type of vehicle has already been officially imported into France, then you can register it without much problem. If I import a Cadillac Escalade, for example, which has never been officially sold in France by Cadillac, then I have to pay a conforming bet that costs you about $ 9000 ... and you add the $ 11,500 carbon tax .

The big American SUV arouses either admiration or total disgust. They are very big for us, and riding in an Escalade, Tahoe or Dodge RAM pretends to be someone very rich and pretentious

For us, a Nissan Murano is already a big SUV, so imagine the vision of a Tahoe or worse ... a Suburban.

I have to take two parking spots when I go shopping.

The old Americans have, however, a nice odds of love with people (Mustang, Firebird, Eldorado 70s ...). We are still a lot of people who ride in SUV US.

For nothing in the world I will not leave the world of the American car
