I was able to change the fogs to led 6k
Looks off with the stock hid on the headlights

Just put 6000k D3S in your low beam, and 6000k LED in high beams and fogs and you’ll be good to go. If you went with 8000k you are downgrading your light output. As far as HIDs in the fogs, no experience there, but I’m of the belief that HIDs do not belong in a reflector housing because of uncontrolled beam pattern and glare, so I would say no, just use LED and be done.

What he said. I would never go over 6000K or else you’re really decreasing your usable light output as bulbs much above 5500K actually put out less lumens than those in the 4300-5500K range.

You can tell this even in the daytime photo you posted; See how your fog lights are actually brighter than your headlights.... No bueno.

I just got a 2018 Premier. I replaced the factory HID bulbs with Innovited 5000k bulbs. $26 shipped. + 6000k Lasfit led fogs $31 (but look more like 5000k and had to re-aim the fog light housing because they were so bright everyone was flashing me). Paired up both are a very close match. Never had any issues with Innovited products. Installed a complete 55w kit im my wife’s camry 6 years 0 problems. Pictures attached are reversed so the first picture is after. Second is factory I’ll try and get a picture with both tomorrow

Is the stock HID system the same projector housing as the non HID halogen setup? I have an LT that I do not believe has HIDs.

The bulb mounting tabs are most likely different between the projectors (H11 halogen bulb vs. a D3S HID bulb). I don’t know if there are any differences in the projector designs for the two different bulbs.

Hmm. Thank @cmatt ! I suppose it doesn't matter if I go OEM then, at this point it's about picking the best possible HID.

Ha! Well, I’m partial to the factory headlamp assemblies (but not the bulbs). So I swapped the halogen ones on my Yukon SLT for the Denali HIDs and created a custom harness to address the circuit differences. I used Osram 66340 CBI HID bulbs.

@Tiki I knew I had these somewhere. You can see the difference in the mounting holes.

For reference, these are the factory HID bulbs.

@cmatt so SLT have H11 stock as well correct? Aside from the custom harness, how did you address the mounting hole difference? Or did you get the complete headlight assembly?

Yes, that’s correct. I swapped in the complete HID headlamp assemblies.

Fak! I was hoping for a simpler solution. Outside the mounting hole, what's the difference between the housing/reflector?

I know. Nothing is simple these days.

Obviously, the entire headlamp assembly will bolt right in. As for the rest of the projector similarities, I can’t get a good enough look at them while they’re inside the headlamp housing. However, you can see in the photos where the front and rear halves (projector bowl that holds the bulb and lens bracket that holds the lens) are bolted together. I wonder if the front half of the projector that holds the lens is the same for halogen and HID.

Anyone ever opened up a headlight? We need to see what it looks like inside.

There is a simpler solution to swapping in the whole factory HID housing. I bought all an HID kit for our 2017 Yukon SLT from Vanquish Auto. Check them out. They have a quality canbus HID kit and I have been very happy with them. I also bought their 6000k LED high beam and fog light kit. In the pics you can see a clear comparison between the 6000k HID on driver side vs stock halogen on passenger side.

And their customer service sucks. Many posts on this site about them.
I can only speak from my experience. I had a good experience with them on both our Yukon and my 06 F250 when I decided to change everything over to LED on it. Not a single problem. Had to leave a message when I called but they always called back within a reasonable timeframe. I don’t know.....maybe they’ve gotten worse since I bought my stuff?
