Big things this week, not really lol
Was talking with @Fosscore about adding engine bay lights, figure I beat him to it lol. Added 1 blue led cob strip to the engine bay, same style cob strip as the white light up top. Can see the white really over powers the blue. I plan to add another 2 on the sides. Deciding on either more blue or throw in some red for some diversity lol

Need to get back to my roots and solder everything. I never had a garage before now so many convenient things like painting or soldering just wasnt something I could have. Been so use to using connectors and heat shrink I have zero worries about my connections. But we all know solder is the best. So I searched online and just bought this one locally at home depot for $35. Let the fun begin, removing all connectors and reconnecting wires with solder and new heat shrink. Besides it just to cheap not to have. In the end buying hundreds of connectors will cost way more lol.

I love my Weller. I have the big bulky gun style with the trigger and dual temp setting though. Even though it's bulky, it works excellent. Never have to worry about whether or not the solder is going to melt before I cook the wires. I need to get some tips for it though.

Had an idea for a 3rd brake light for the wifes car. 100cm led strip with 3 different modes (chaser mode, dual brightness, flash). Got it in the mail and one of the modes didnt work so they sent me another one for free. Which is fine cause I never planned on using any of those modes, so I just cut the control box off and wired the strip directly for a simple on/off mode illumination. So I used the extra one on the Denali. 3m self adhesive tape. Perfect length for the rear window.

Follow the wire for the rear defroster into the harness through the rubber hatch grommet. From there you'll need to remove the passenger side panel and top panel to gain access just inside the headliner to reach the 3rd brake light wire which can be fed through the hole that connect to the original light. Fill that hole with whatever you want. I just cut the wires off and stuffed the original oem plug back in it.

Its self explanatory but since I've never seen anyone do this I figure I'd go into a little more detail. It's always difficult to execute a mod that's never been done before, even as simple as this one. From mounting to making sure it's still functional and also looks right in perspective on the vehicle with the rest of the lights.

Plus its winter here and I'm bored out of my mind.

Btw I made sure I had enough slack in the wires so if the light goes out or I need to change it I can easily unplug it by only taking off the inside plastic trim on the hatch. Otherwise if running the wire to the fullest extent the connector would be through the grommet and I would have to run the wire through it all over again.
