i think there is a tiny person sitting under my tahoe shaking a set of Mexican maracas as I drive! I noticed it In February but parked it and started on the interior. Now I hav been driving it to work lately and it’s worse by the day. Any of you have that same problem? I’m almost certain it’s coming from the transfer case. I already bought a replacement just haven’t put it in. Last night I was messing with it trying to find out what the hell it is because it’s driving me crazy and if you put it in four low it's really loud! Have any of you had this problem with yours before?

Transfer case chain would definitely sound like maracas, does it change with acceleration or is it constant?

It's the same really. As soon as you get moving it starts. I'm kinda scared to drive it again dont want it to leave me stranded

An easy way to determine if its the chain is to raise the rear with jack stands safely and have somebody put it in gear, and have a listen.

What did I just read?

Slow down.

Whats the noise? Where is it coming from? How can you replicate it? And what, if anything have you tried already?

Current recommended fix: Replace tiny person's maracas with marshmallows

From what I've managed to gather I think he is hearing a tiny guy banging the maracas the second he starts moving.
