why do some of you prefer the 22” tired and wheels to the 20” wheels and tire combos

24's perfect balance, most folks in my parts either run 26+ or 20's

20s too small for my likes and 26+ has limited tire options especially if on a road trip and require something in a hurry. 4s in 305/35r24 provides me with a decent ride, great width, and enough sidewall to make sure I don't bend a wheel.

If you are doing a lift, then either is fine, but aesthetically i like 22s on a 33 or 35

For me 22 was bigger than the tons of 20’s and let me keep some sidewall for better ride but I’m lowered no lifted had a buddy with 24 ride was rough

They just look much better on a vehicle so large.
I remember when 20's started to become popular and suddenly the 17's and 18's looked bad.
Plus I drove mine pretty hard and the 22's always seemed to do pretty well in the turns. Less sidewall flex for such a big truck.

I think 20s were more than fine on the previous design but like most newer vehicles, the belt line and fender heights are much higher and the once large 20" looks almost too small, IMO.

IMO, our 17 Suburban with 22s has a better ride than our 15 Yukon with 20s.

I don’t. Look better, handle better and with the right tire (Michelin) will ride the same.

My wife and I drove two premiers right after each other over the same route. The only diff between the two were tire sizes. The 22s were more “sporty” in that I felt like they responded a little quicker. What made us decide on the 20s though was that the 22s, with the 45 series tires, made you feel every imperfection and piece of aggregate in the roadway. It was definitely a rougher ride and a little noisier too. I think maybe the MRS is tuned for 20s. It was an easy choice for us.

Now I’m a geezer (60). I don’t care about a sporty ride if it sacrifices comfort and quiet. YMMV. I drove our 2017 Denali 7 hours home and was amazed how unfatigued (if that’s a word) I was.

I won’t ever go 22s. Tires are just too damn expensive for 22s. And the ride on 22s to me just isn’t worth it. It just isn’t as smooth and that bugs me. And I live in the mountains, where we get snow for usually three to four months out of the year. 22s to me just aren’t practical in the snow.
Needless to say I prefer 20s.
