Rocket Man nailed it. I wish I had a cool story like I was fighting ninjas or something but not so much .I opened the hatch to get out a drink from the cooler et the wind gods must have been Pissed at me because a giant gust came and shatter the glass .glad I had it tinted because I think they helped me not be covered in glass .

$473 installed. The glass shop had to order one; hopefully it will be ready to pick up tomorrow. Then I need to get the replacement glass tinted.

That's why I didn't resolder my defogger connector back on yet! Just in case it shatters like yours did. Glad nobody was hurt.

Me too. On the plus side, I have a reason to get my interior detailed now. Gotta make sure there isn't any glass where the kiddos sit.

Yeah. The west TX wind is bad. Even worse for keeping the vehicles clean.
Did you have any desire to go to a junk yard and possibly get an Escalade rear glass so you can have that and the third brake light? Might even be cheaper.

I looked, but you gotta replace the whole hatch on if I understand correctly. The one they had at the local yard was the wrong color and I didn't want to have to paint

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure you don't need to replace the whole hatch, just the glass.

No, the glass is easily removed and replaced by itself. I pulled mine, fixed the grid tabs, and reinstalled the glass. just remove the gas shocks and then there's one or 2 small bolts to remove and then it slides out to the side.
