To make that much power you would most likely need a cam, long tube headers, aftermarket exhaust, cold air intake and a tune. Don`t waste your money on a throttle body spacer. It does nothing for your engine.

Aww well as they say ... "Fast ain't cheap and cheap ain't fast ... how fa$$$T do you want to go??? To me "gain" 350 hp means "gain" 350 hp?? So don't know what motor you have?? But say 300 hp + 350 = 650hp??

Is that what you want and can afford and add emissions compliance on top of it?? "Apparently the LS/LQ motors can do 500 hp easily enough if properly built with the right selection of parts. But your looking at $4500 dollars if your frugal and with the right combination of parts. I don't know if those motors could pass an "Emissions" test however??

You could also buy a "Crate Motor" putting out 500 hp ... don't know about emission compliance with them however??

A low boost SuperCharger or Turbo kit can net 500 hp easily but a solid base motor would be a wise idea. And those kits run $4000+. "Pro Charger" seems to claim 850 hp for there Hiboost Kit, but that can't possibly be with stock internals??

It would be wise to talk with local speed shops, machine shops and discuss with them what your goals, objective and needs are. Once you throw "Emission Compliance into the mix ... it changes everything!

Don't know about New York ... but I was a Smog Tech in Ca and in Ca ... if the motor "looked" different than the factory installed power plant ... you failed!!

Course ... I'm a car guy ... so a lot of cars got there stickers ... I had to quit that job before I got locked up. :)

The fastest way to bump up your horsepower is put a blower and be done with it. By the way the blower will pass emisions.

I did see the "Procharger" say CARB certified ... don't know about the High Boost 850 hp model???

And yes typically on a "stock motor" 100 to 125 hp forced induction, on these engines ... a piece of cake ... but 350 hp ... I don't know???

The towing drive has a pick up truck with stock engine told me he paid $800 for the tune to the computer and add the smaller pulley and he's getting 303 hp and his goal is to get 350 hp and he passes inspection with no problem no engine light on and his rpm go on the way down with no problems

LOL OK ... "Semantics" to me "Gain" 350 hp means well ... gain 350 hp! :)

I think what you "mean" is "I want at least "350" hp???" That's a whole lot simpler!! With a small block Chevy ... that's pretty much a piece of cake!

There is some value to the under drive pulleys more so on a 4 cylinder than a V8 (waste of time and money on a V8 to me but whatever.) :)

Your picture just shows a Vehicle with no motor??? At least that's what I see?? But if the compression and a leak down test checks out OK with your motor, your good to go!

Bolt on's and a tune can get you easily into the 350/400 hp range. CAI, Long Tube Headers (and you need Carb Certified Headers preferably) otherwise you need to have bungs welded on for 02 sensors for some headers (and without a Carb Cert that may not be legal??) Most Smog Techs just look for 02 sensors to be in place.) So whatever Headers ... "may not be a problem aslong as the 02 sensors and the Cats are there.

A free flowing Exhaust most likely a true dual exhaust. A larger throttle body and a throttle spacer (Not sure on those myself.) And a just make to sure upgrade would be a "mild cam." That and a "Tune" and your good to go. :)

And with the tune you need to decide if you want to run regular or premium?? With Premium ... you can run more timing advance which equates to more power. And "Black Bear" appears to be quite popular here and they can do retunes as required as you add stuff ... kinda cool I must say.

In Porsche and Toyota land ... that does not happen!

Getting to 350+ hp is a whole simpler than "gaining" 350 hp. :)

That sounds a little better for the mind how much black bear would charge me to do the whole set up

ive seen your truck in the bronx many a time. I have also worked on almost all the fastest tow trucks in the 49 precint. What makes most of them so fast is they are driven like they wete stolen since day one. Very few of them have real performance mods. I can beat most with my awd. If you pin the pedal 15 times a day since day one your truck will feal faster.

I got a LQ9 from a escalade and I did nothing but in take and exhaust. I had it dyno tuned and I am getting 300 hp. From the 5.3 to the 6.0 was a big difference. A nice mild can would wake this engine up and would be amazing. The truck feels a lot lighter and gets up and goes very quickly with little effort.
I vote for a 6.0L. :chewie::cheers:

I may have missed it but what motor are you working with??? That aside ... are there any car clubs or events around you?? Do you know anyone that is into "modded" vehicles??

Anyone in that "arena" will have a "Machine Shop" they use for there motors. Local "Speed Shops" would have hooks ups also. Those are the sources you need to find. WHen I moved to NV and needed work done for a motor, I knew "no one???" I worked at "Mr Gasket" and there was a car guy there and I asked him about finding about "Machine Shop???"

He recommended "Marine Automotive" not a name I would have looked out?? I went down there and talked to them ... worked out fine. :)

And ... "Black Bear" that's this guy.:
