Well, that’s not entirely correct - most large commercial airline pilots will switch on the autopilot literally seconds after calling, “Gear up”. These systems are designed to be left on during turbulence; they are exceptionally fault-tolerant because people will die if they are not. A lot of time, testing, and unfortunate accidents have paved the way for these systems to be remarkably reliable. It is rare that these systems will randomly disengage (RIP AF 447) or fail. It is a different story, however, on smaller planes where it can be safer to disengage the autopilot and manually fly.

And this is my beef with most automakers: they are treating software like a second-class citizen. Just look at all the software issues these newer vehicles have. They need to treat every aspect of their systems as life-and-death. I hope they’re not sitting there going, “Meh … if Super Cruise drives off a dock and kills a family of four … it’s just a family of four. It’s not like it’s a 737 or something.”
Category 3 automatic landing are possible, but account for less than 1% of all commercial flights. Most pilots agree that landing manually is easier and safer than monitoring the autopilot systems during the auto land stage of flight.

And my super cruise decided to only change half a lane the other day, throwing me back into the one I was departing. So there's that :D

with forums it's hard to "assume" anything...but concerning your second paragraph

Gov't "guidance" has definitely advanced since the 70s, but the Ford Pinto "situation" is one that shouldn't ever be forgotten -

I did a quick waterless wash (its freezing here) to clean off my rim, but not the wheel, to see how well the product would protect against gravel dust tomorrow. Here's a side by side of the "clean" rim and one I haven't touched. Detailing these things is going to be a pain but thankfully as a truck, dirty wheels are just a sign that you're going on adventures :D All things considered I don't think they look that bad even dirty.

I noticed that in the online inventory that many of the Ultimate window stickers are showing a $75 credit for lack of wireless charging. I was under the impression that there were not any constraints on the Ultimates. I have a few orders at local dealers and am patiently waiting but losing something I have on my 2021 Tahoe Premier is not appealing.

I can tell you that the $75 is a better deal. I'm plugging my phone into the USB in the drawer because the wireless charging is so difficult to get in just the right spot with my phone. iPhone 14 Pro max.

I've seen an aftermarket kit that you can swap into the little tray indentation on the center console, if you have a power console. Might give that a try instead.

So far IMO the wireless charging sucks, I wish they would have given a 75 dollar credit. It has been hit or miss and then it keeps stopping and showing some kinda of symbol and won't charge. I can' seem to locate what the stands for but it looks like a triangle with a dot in the middle,

Interesting. I have it on my premier Tahoe and it works pretty consistently with my iPhone 13 Pro. There are sometimes when I have to move the phone around but it works most of the time. I may look into the aftermarket option that goes on the center console.

Did anyone get floor mats for the 3rd row with their Denali or Ultimate? We only have first and second row.

it's not a constraint, it's a "not available" item - I am not going to miss it, I don't believe. The Yukons I have been in don't fast charge my S21, so if using Android Auto/Navigation, etc, it eats through battery faster than the wireless charger can put it back.

I’m planning on my recently ordered Denali not having the supposedly included wireless charger, so I’ve ordered a mount and charging attachment from ProClip that also allows me to view the phone’s screen (Presently I typically run ****** Live on the phone screen and Waze or Google maps on my nav screen).

I’ve used this brand before and they always provide excellent quality and fit.

Apparently the board’s software doesn’t recognize that “E*cort” is a manufacturer of electronic devices, and not a code word for a woman of ill repute. As an administrator on a BMW motorcycle website, we’ve had to tweak this over time, so I don’t take it too personally. FYI, this is the app I was referring to….

LOL well now I'm wondering if there's an app that tracks the other kind :)

What type of phone mount do you attach to the bracket/ something like MagSafe or a QuadLock?

I’ve ordered their MagicMount charger, but you could mount a variety of chargers.

Has anyone else been unimpressed with the "wood" panel covering the cupholders and phone bay? Seems like paper thin veneer and will probably blister and rip the first time it gets touched by moisture.

Had mine since Feb. The finish on it is pretty good (beads water). Have not had any issues w/ it or the panels on the door, which are more likely to get wet when opening/closing door in rain...Mine looks factory new, and I have wiped it off a few times after spilling beverages on it.

Well the Dealer messaged me yesterday saying my original order is in! It's a shorty without super cruise, in Titanium Rush Metallic. I don't know if the dollars are going to make sense trying to trade in this barely used XL but I'll at least go have a look this weekend.

I have a question for some of you more experienced GMC orderers, Is it permissible for me to put in an order for a Yukon XL Denali Ultimate at more than one dealer so I can increase my odds of getting an allocation and once I get get my first allocation, cancel the other orders? If so, is there a limit on how many dealers I can place the same order through and can they take orders over the phone?

Well most dealers are charging for orders and some up to a $1,000 which could get expensive but they are refundable, just ask to make sure. Now you can put in as many orders as you like with different dealers but the bottom line is without any allocatins the order will go nowhere. There has been some talk of dealers taking orders (for a cost) knowing they will not be able to even get the vehicle and maybe have to bump it to a MY2024.

Well, my ordering journey has ended today ...now begins the real fun, of learning what this vehicle can do!? Started the journey beginning of this year, where I was researching and learning as much as I can from all of you. Thanks to all of you I had reasonable expectations in the ordering process, so it wasn't too painful. Placed order Aug 2022, first Utlimate came in second week of October, but without super cruise ...that was a deal breaker ...which I told the dealer I wasn't expect it until 2023 (whatever "late availability" meant). However, pleasantly surprised that all new Ultimates build after Oct 12 now have SC ...so I waited! Come today, vehicle arrived at dealer two days ago! This one has everything I wanted ...but of course it has to be a Covid era vehicle without wireless charging. Oh well, I can fix that. She is going to take a lot to learn ...my first GM, truck like, vehicle!
