Yukon Denali XL 3.0L diesel: Produced but no eta

Looking for others with similar truck on order to provide info on their experience.

I ordered my Yukon on 1/28 with pano sunroof, 22” wheels, max tow, advanced tech, & duramax.

Dealer called me mid march stating I had to drop max tow and adv tech. I dropped it based on their suggestion. I received an update mid April the truck went into 3400 status. Then early May 3800. Now my truck is in 4B00 status since mid May with no eta to dealer and no shipping scheduled. Will I be waiting much longer? Any idea why this is happening?

I believe 4B00 means its been "Bayed". Prepped for shipping but not ready to ship. Probably waiting on other vehicles heading to a similar destination. Where are you taking delivery?

Bayed is good, most of us have our trucks sitting in a storage lot delayed. Like was said above, just waiting to hitch a ride on the train. It takes a few weeks to build the loads, and with other delayed trucks, just gotta wait for the right group with similar destinations to finally ship. Stick with your dealer at this point, once it is on the move, they can GPS track it and have a better idea of an ETA.

I've been told to specifically ask for screen shot/picture of VINVIEW (the tool they use to track it).

Random question, do all Tahoes/Yukons get shipped via rail first? I'd assume not. Do we know which areas are served via truck only?

Using Chevy's inventory, i can see that 6 Tahoes are "in transit" within 25 miles of me. I'd assume they'd need 10 or so to actually ship?

I imagine there is a range around the Arlington area they can deliver to, but considering commercial driver's hour limit, that radius is relatively small to account for driving to each dealer along the route, unloading at each dealer, and returning back to the yard.

Interesting point. What is the hour limit by chance? 8 hours? Considering round trip, really its a 4 hour radius?

I also pulled up a map if Class I freight rail companies in the US. Funny to see how rail is basically owned by a single operator depending on where in the country you are. An example is Memphis, TN. About 4+ companies operate there, but if you want to go easy of Memphis, your only option is CSX.

Arlington, TX, where our trucks are built is solely serviced by Union Pacific. If you're much further easy of Memphis (say in North Carolina), do you have to switch trains?

I’m sure switching trains can make the shipping process a bit more lengthy. In central Colorado we are just 13 hours from Arlington. But based on the way the railroads work, likely still need to switch trains. Doubtful it will make it up here on a transport carrier.

I always would have thought mine would have shipped to St Louis via wentzville railyard. Nonetheless, it shipped over the road with 4 or 5 others. Surprised the dealer too.

Yes, there are some weird logistics involved when it comes to rail, probably. I believe someone recently posted a VIN View screen shot that showed their truck going from Texas to Louisiana then up to Ohio?

I saw that too, which is what made me look into freight rail maps.

Makes me wonder how long our cars could sit between rail carriers or between rail and truck. Might be an explanation for those who bounce between multiple statuses (like 4B00, 4200, and 4300).

so I’ve figured out that my truck is built status code 4B00 for 2 weeks (according to gmc chat) or 4300 (according to dealer) but no window sticker yet. My Yukon XL Denali 3.0 was built on 5/13. Guessing I’m in the Midlothian debacle… can anyone tell me when the WS becomes available? After truck is completed or once it ships?

Not sure about specific brands, but a lot of new vehicles destined for Denver area deliveries are railed to and stored at the big lots south of C-470 off of Santa Fe (US 85), just N of Chatfield State Park, for trucking to dealer lots.

So come to find out, mine is on a truck from Arlington to Nashville. Apparently they just put it on a truck and its a 2 day drive. It should be here tonight (delivery Monday most likely).

4B00 is shown anytime the vehicle is parked waiting on transportation. Transportation is a major bottleneck because GM kept producing vehicles and storing them rather than shipping them. Now they have lots to ship and LIMITED resources. The shipper have contracts to move X amount of vehicles per week and that's what they had their business programmed to do. If you can only move 900 vehicles a week and there are 10,000 with more added daily, its going to take loooooooooooooong time to catch up. I know someone who just got their Corvette and it took 3+ months in shipping, it was built mid March and arrived 9am June 1st. The driver told them he left Bowling Green on Sunday May 29 with a full load and some 650 miles later he was dropping off their car, his last one. PS, the dealer called him when the truck arrived as he had requested. He worked nearby..
