Yukon denali horsepower question

I know the yukon denali was rated for about 400hp but is that wheel hp or at the crank?

usually 400 is a slight exaggeration so probably more realistically 350-385

The 2007 & 2008 was rated 380hp at the crank. The 2009-2014 was rated 403hp at the crank.

EDIT:
I guess the early literature had the engines rated at 380hp, but later literature has them all (L92, L9H, L94) rated the same 403hp

This was so the Escalades had the then exclusive 403 horsepower engine!

I just ask cause I saw a member from a different forum said he did a dod delete with an upgraded cam, and tune and say he got 330hp which I thought was a little off

If they were "testing" the HP ,,, it would have been on a chassis dyno. So that
would have been WHEEL HP. You'll generally lose about 20% when testing
at the wheels due to drivetrain loss. So 400 - 20% would be about 320HP.
So that sounds about right. Plus some dynos are a bit stingey like the mustang
ones

From what I understand, the 6.2 motors were identical for both the Denali and the Escalade, at least in 2007. The difference was that the Denali was rated at 87 octane and tuned for that octane (though they did 'recommend' a higher octane), and the Escalade was rated for 91 octane and tuned for that octane. I believe that is what Justin from BBP advised me, when we were discussing a tune for my Denali.

Manufactures advertise hp/torque at the crank.........the numbers would not be nearly as impressive at the wheels once you factor in drivetrain loss and big wheels (rotational mass)20 or 22" wheels))

If someone is talking about number after adding a cam or heads it should be rear wheel power......but if they just street tuned it, they just took the avg numbers from what they read online. IE, TSP, said my Stage3 5.3 high lift cam was good for 67hp (engine dyno). I saw rear wheel gain of 48hp with mild heads and ran out of fuel at 5900 rpm.

When in doubt, ask them to whip out the dyno sheet.....they will either have it or excuses.
