Anything special you do?

not really, I just uploaded those black and white renderings the architect sent me and told it how I wanted the house to look in real life, time of day landscaping, lighting, etc. And it popped that out. It's not a perfect science, just gives you an overall idea. The first time I did it, it gave the house a 1 car garage and I had to keep asking it to make it a 2-car. So now it has a 2-car but it looks small. The actual house has 2-side load bays and like 20' between the first bay and the house itself. So in theory one could pull a car and parallel park it in there. The garage is around 1900sqft

So yesterday we got some renderings of the house from 4 different elevations. Drawings never do well with me, so I loaded them into chatgpt to make them more realistic. We have some changes to make, nothing crazy, but just gotta let it sit and think about it before we go back with a punch list. Ideally the garage has now grown on me and I like how it looks. I think we are going to change a few windows and doors here and there, but the overall layout is coming along as planned.

on a more realistic note. This house isn't for just me and the wife. It's for our kids, grandkids, friends, etc. My father has a lake house in GA and it seems like when we gather together as friends and family, there can never be enough room. Sqft wise, this place is only 5,030 total under "air," 4 bedroom, 4.5 bathrooms. Upstairs consists of the 3 spare bedrooms, a mechanical room, upstairs laundry, and a small loft area. Downstairs is the master suite, a great room, office, dining room, and kitchen. There is a bourbon room (for me) and a dog room (for the wife other children). I'm sure if we wanted to, we could eliminate a few things, but this is our forever home and we wanted to have enough room for the kids to come stay with grandkids at some point. Our house now is 3000sqft, and it's quaint, but it's also only one story. Adding a second story of guest rooms above this house would put it over 5000sqft, so the size seems normal to us.

My parents made a similar effort when they built their house about 12 years ago, now. They built so that when my brother and family came in town we could all meet comfortably at one home and also supply a place for him and his family to stay while they were in town. Turned out perfect considering we both have a family of 6 so the two families plus my parents can all meet, eat and laugh and not be elbow to elbow.

I say all this to say that it's a perfect set up and glad you and Mrs. Yeti can do this now in prep for what's to come in the future. Should be spectacular and will be perfect for building all those memories

With that said, I may have to build a fortress if my kids are as "productive" as me and mrs. burb were ......in order to have enough room for full family gatherings

Makes total sense when you explain it like that. Grandma and grandpas house can never be too cool

1. There's several of us
2. My crew is way louder than it should be
3. Some of my offspring have an endless queue of questions that are most likely none of their business but they ask anyways regardless of how many times I've kicked them in the shin and told them to stop
4. I don't think there's ever a time that they're NOT hungry but yet they are super picky eaters overall
5. They will be polite and say "Thank you, Mr. Robbie" to show their appreciation.

We'll also block off an area for the lawn darts and the c0rnhole games. Robbie won't ever want us to leave!!

actually, now that you mentioned it, we are going to buy the lot next door and just put 4 50A services with full waste hookups for our friends with RVs. It'll allow you guys to enjoy water front living and no cost to you.

Messing with Ai again. I "think" I want to make those windows over the front door and the ones at the back of the house near the greenroom more triangular as they peak toward the top. Right now they are just stacked rectangles.

I see those windows above the front door ( and rear ).. to be a half-circle at the top…..
My 2-story has a half-circle above the entry and it’s a nice accent for an entry.
