95 Tahoe 2WD 5.7L. cranks, won't start, with tried tarting fluid, still no start. Next morning started, runs fine. Drove 25mi. Ok, stopped to park, shuts off. Put in park started up, parked stalled at idel. Many hours later, won't start. Towed home, won't tart. Disconnected Battery, reconnected a while later. Now starts.
What are your expert thoughts?
PS New fuel pump installed.

In my ’88 GMC / 5.7, I put in an MSD coil ( found out it was junk / not what they used to be )……. A coil can fail intermittently …. The coil doesn’t always just STOP working…. it can drive you crazy.

Do these have the ignition module under the distributor rotor? They can do the same thing.

I do know the the wires going down to the crank sensor rubs raw and keeps it from starting. Pull crank sensor plug and find the ground in the plug and ohm(continuity) ground in the plug to engine ground. If constant when harness is moved around then it's not the wiring down to the crank . But if it cuts in and out ( the continuity) then bad wires running down passenger side of timing cover are bad.

We could all guess all day long, not going to fix anything. Or you could start with some simple diagnosis when it doesn't start. Of course we all assume it's a low mileage well maintained truck that has no pre-existing conditions and no codes stored. I'd start with a spark test and fuel pressure test ASSuming my previous sentence is true.
New fuel pump means nothing in today's world except it costs money and labor, no guarantee it's any good.

As Eman stated.... A bit more diagnostics needed. Check key on voltage at the Ign circuit as many places as you can reach.
Unplug IAC and try to start. is another.
RTFM is the best. - https://charm.li/
