Hey Guys,

I would like to mount a Warn 12,000LB winch to front of my 2003 Yukon XL 2500. I was hoping to keep the factory front bumper and just have a plate sitting out in front without having to use a front mounted Hitch. I cannot find any info on this truck anywhere. Warn says they don't make anything for this platform. Do you guys know if the frame and front bumper is the same as the Sierra 1500 of this era??

It’s not the same as the 1500. But it is very similar to the early (2000-2002) 2500 Sierra.
I was looking into this a while back and there’s not much info. There used to be a winch mount that fit behind the stock bumper but it was hard to track down. I think warn made it but it was only marked as compatible with 99-2002 Sierra or Silverado 2500 (non-HD). It was discontinued but you should be able to find pics or see if someone is selling old stock. I was not successful.
I know your trying to retain stock bumper and from what I can tell it’s gonna require some cutting and welding skills. It’s not hard but definitely not bolt on. For reference I ended up going with a trail ready bumper for a 2001-2006 Sierra HD. The brackets fit fine as they were adjustable but the grill will have to be addressed since the hd pickups all had ~2” body lift so it will leave a gap between the stock grill and bumper. I have a 2” body lift on on the front of my rig due to other reasons and Thankfully the newer Sierra hd grill bolts into place and takes care of the gap between the grill and bumper.

For yours you might get away with a 1500 grill from a newer 03-06 Sierra if you don’t have the body lift and it would work. Again assuming you given up on retaining the stock bumper.

Otherwise I’m XM sure you could pull the bumper off and fab a winch mount plate in between the frame rails. Keep us posted on what you decide.

Not the same platform but same idea, if you cut those inner brackets off and fabricate something up you might be able to squeeze one in there behind the bumper, these pics are from a 2016-2018 silverado with a rough country mounting kit, same basic idea though

Is there a receiver mount to be installed where the winch is mounted on a plate and then has a stinger on the back that slides in to the receiver when needed and then plugged in at the cables that are mounted there for when needed.
