So finally got around to getting some gauges for the Yukon from my neighbor. Autometer stuff...not same model, they were a gift so im not complaining...got the pod from summit, autometer pn 17117...

After some debating, I decided to paint all pods black as im not a fan of the greyish roof and pillars...

To match the pillar, i had to take the Bose speakers apart. Have to be careful so you dont snap the staple style Bose logo, but its pretty straight forward to take off.

This is an LED thru the dial gauge, so i believe i have to buy a LED dimmer for it to get it to dim down...in my other car, the boost gauge is a standard bulb and it dims just like the dash lights dim, but not sure how its going to work on this application.

Right now, I have it hooked up to an ignition hot fuse under the hood...so it lights up when the key is on...

can someone help me find a wire i can tap into that is on when the lights are on? would it be behind my dimmer switch in the dash?

Clean install...looks good.

As far as a wire goes not familiar with the NNBS but I would suggest probing some wires behind the light selector switch with a VOM to find out what you are looking for...Good luck

I run the Cobalt series gauges in my HD and Suburban in both trucks I added a resistor in line to knock some of the brightness out of them. Now they are damn near the same brightness as my stock gauges. As far as the dimmer wire, it is in that harness, I honestly forget the color I used, the panel pops out easy enough I'll try to check later or tomorrow.

Sounds good...from the breakdown i got, i believe its the "brown/white" pin #7 wire...if you can double check...that would be awesome...

Also, where did you get the resistor? any links?

Thank you sir. Ill try it tomorrow. So the resistor actually dims the gauge. Does the dim function on the switch do anything at all when you adjust it ?

The dim switch will do something, but these Cobalt gauges are so fkn bright I add the resistor to dim it down a little. Basically I set the dimmer to max brightness then grab the resistors and try to match that the best this way as you dim it they stay in sync with the stock backlighting.

I will check what resistor I used...for some reason 1000uf comes to mind.

You are correct, they are pretty bright...I will hook it up to the wire tonight and see what it does...ill go get some resistors too.

Next project is to weld the wideband **** into the stock headers...looks pretty tight in there before the cats :-(

All gauges in my procharged sonoma were of the Cobalt series. I just hooked them up to the factory dimmer switch. They dimmed fine for me.

Ran the gauge with the 1000ohm resistor...slightly less brighter than the stock gauge dimming IMO, might try something smaller...regardless, its pretty close tho! thanks for the tip!!!

I will try it without any resistor as well...i never hooked them up to the dimmer without a resistor.

Tried a 560 ohm resistor last night...i think its lil closer to my taste of dimming and matching the stock bulbs.

I didnt even realize Autometer made a pod for our trucks. I should buy a single and put my Aeroforce scan gauge in it thats been laying on my shelf.

They made a 2x and 3x pod...not sure if they make a single...

its under the sierras on their website...i just searched their PN on summit cause they deliver next day to my house...Make sure you order one with the speaker hole if you have the Bose system on the pillars. I usually get discouts thru autometer, but all their pods are outsourced to GaugeWorks

If your only looking for a single gauge pod check over on performancetrucks.net a member over there makes a pod that replaces the sail panel on the door.
