I have installed a new boost/vacuum gauge. It is really really bright at night. So I'd
like to use the dimming feature of it. It says not to use the dash lights as a source due
to that being a variable/potentiometer power. So I'd like to find the power source to
tap into that is "on" when the actual headlights are "on".
Thank You

Depends, is it digital or analog? Led or incandescent?

You could try nail polish to dim the LED.

It just needs the "signal" that the headlights/parking lamps are in the ON position to turn on its dim function

Ah, I see.
Unless you keep your dash lights turned all the way down, you should be fine using the dash illumination. Or tap into the running lights.
