Do they tune the software in computer for breaking period ? And you bring back after 10,000 miles and they update the software after break in ? Thanks for any info .

bcm needs to be programmed for your vin and that's it, done, finito

No, it should have the latest updates installed for your vin. Plug it in, start the truck and the computer will self adjust. Nothing changes unless you want a custom tune.
It's a wild thought but my 2006 was just updated and it changed alot of how it works from shifting rpm to it removed a miss from the idle . Shifting down holds now to 5000 rpm before it hits 3rd .. 5000 rpm in second gear is 70 mph .
Ya before it did it was all 4000 rpm on down shift.. so either my computer was never updated since 2006 or someone screwed it up along the way before I got it . Anyone have any other ideas ?

yes the new trucks will get updates/optional (over the air) as gm releases them, on the older trucks like mine and yours it is something that would need to be done via a cable connected to a computer. you likely received all the updates that there ever will be for your year unless there is a recall.

another twist i was never aware of until the past handful of years. some vehicles you wouldn't expect to come with different gear ratios do actually come with different gearing. some vehicles are just tuned slightly different for where thier sold(this one i was never able to verify). vehicles slated to be sold in the rocky mts or similar areas can come with better gearing for the area. some vehicles just do it with tuning bumping pressure and shift points to accommodate the area the car resides(again however never able tp verify the tuning portion).

if this was the case you would be able to have those kinds of things done at the dealer and there would be a sales pitch from your dealer pretty much guaranteed. so... meh probably not.
different gear ratio's are certainly a thing though, usually based on if it was marketed with a specific towing capacity or awd, etc. A dealer may market a vehicle based on there region they certainly make the commercials this way, a Chevy commercial for San Diego is much different than one in Seattle.

they had different gear ratios in cavaliers and malibus definitely wasn't a towing factor there. wasn't specific to trims either as you could find different ratios throughout. gm doesn't even like to market thier own performance options let alone allowing dealerships to market expensive indepth option changes. hell sometimes dealerships wont even remove options you dont want. if they allowed dealerships the ability to swap tunes so readily to a more performance related tune they would just look like idiots. all the time they have invested trying to squash anything relating to modifying thier vehicles outside of what they already offer. now granted finding a direct statement from gm suggesting they distribute cars to fit an area isn't going to happen. surf enough gm forums you might notice a trend where people in certain areas who want #.## gear ratio setup can't seem to find it. yet people in a different area have that version in spades. bit of a conspiracy theory i geuss but it was also odd an individual couldn't buy said part themselves and have the swap done on thier dime. gm does too much wierd stuff sometimes and it's actually something that makes sense in a marketing point. build a vehicle and tweek it slightly so it fits the area its sold in better.

cavaliers and the sunfire where twins, they had 3 trim levels including the Z24 (I had a cavalier), they also had different engine's or generations of engines and a 3 speed, 4 speed and 5 speed transmissions, a 2 door, 3 door (hatchback) and a 4 door wagon, I thought we were talking about the SUV's but there are any number of reason's why gm may give a different gear ratio anywhere from weight, size, transmission type and/or wheel diameter and/or intended use.
the computers in these things adapt for all types of environment including barometric pressure and generally those that live in at higher elevations get better performance and better mileage because the engine/pumps, etc do not have to work as hard which explains many reported differences
