Hi guys and gals...
I bought my 07 Tahoe with 24's on it and now have a dilemna I need to figure out. It's driving me crazy.
Making a left turn just a tad causes the tires to catch on the fender well and making an awful scraping noise. (God forbid I try and do a full left crank). I have to do this quick enough that I don't get odd looks from people when pulling out of parking spots, turning, etc. I now have a hole in the plastic fender where the tire chewed through and also popped a little of it off it's attachment to the lower part of the bumper.
Making right turns is fine and barely touches the plastic fender wells.
I found this odd that one direction causes more problems than the other so I did some investigating. It appears that on the 07 Tahoes, the driver's side plastic fender has a concaved molding already built in where as the passenger side is a straight plastic piece. The driver's side allows the tire to "fit" into this groove and barely miss touching where on the passenger side it catches because there is nothing giving it room.
Would having spacers behind the wheels help bring the wheel out a tad to prevent this? If so, what size spacer should I put behind it? Any other suggestions and/or ideas?
Sorry for the long post but I'm getting annoyed with this issue.
