On my 13' tahoe I installed 275 65 18 in place of the 265 65 18 tires. The spare tire is on a 17" wheel.

My concern is should I end up with a flat tire on the rear and have to put the spare on, will the smaller tire on the 17" wheel screw up the G80 since each axle will be spinning slower/faster than the other?

Bottom line what size 17" tire is equivalent to a 275 65 18 ??

The 275/65/18 tires are about 32.1" diameter
The 265/70/17 spare is about 31.6" diameter

Someone with first hand experience may say different but there is only a 9 rev/mile difference between the 2, assuming u would use the spare only to drive to the shop and get replaced then u should be just fine and def shouldn't be enough to lock the diff

FYI 275/70-17 is the "equivalent" to 275/65-18 tho, but I don't know how accommodating the spare tire compartment is on these trucks

Has anyone fit a 275 70 17 under there? I am half tempted to pick up a used tire to see if it will squeeze in there......

I am simply planning for a worst-case scenario. Back in December in my 2011 I hit a pipe on the road that flew out of a truck -- rode around on the spare for 2 weeks while I ordered a new tire/wheel combo (it split the rim). A week later the rear tire blew out and rode aroudn on the spare another 4 days while the dealer got another tire (tire warranty paid for it).

The second incident happened in a BAD area (the main roads all cut through there to get from one side of town to another) and had my son it the car. At 630am I was changing a rear tire as quickly as I could, fell off the jack, etc. Bad morning. Long story short I sure as hell don't want to be in that situation again and have to jack the front, swap the tire to the rear and put the spare on the front. In an area like that you don't have that time, Glock in your pocket or not.
