Doesn't really matter cuz ALL of those claimed HP gains from the CAI kits are way over exaggerated. At MOST you'll get 3 or 4 HP gain with just the addition of a CAI alone so if you're going for HP gains or MPG gains save your money.

With that said, if you're dead set on getting a CAI then the K&N you mentioned or airaid are probably the best for the money.

A pipe is just a pipe.

Buy the cheAp one, specter from autozone.
Save the extra cash for a servo kit for transmission, you will gain more with these two
Than a 300$ CAI. And cost will b cheaper.

Best bang for your buck is a BLack BeAr tune, vette servo, specter CAI and swap in magaflow muffler.

You will have bigger gains in both power, feel and sound over anything else other than a forced induction kit.

You WILL like what you get from just those simple mods.

i have an S&B with a Magnuson TVS1900 super charger... i have had it on for over about 12 years and over 160k miles (185k miles overall), still works great and S&B still sells parts and supports it, i just ordered a new filter, plastic top and screw set to refresh it...

here is a little update... i had the wrong K&N filter on it, i didn't realize it, when i got my new S&B filter, the new one was much much bogger in diameter... talk about waking my truck up.. i don't know how much HP i just gained putting the right sized filter on, but it is significant... power and throttle response are dramatically better.. yay!

Are the K&N filters oiled? Are the S&B filters also oiled?

I've found the K&N stuff suffers as they age out and clog no matter how much you clean them....

I don't believe that reusable filters are much better than disposables; and certainly not better enough to be worth the clean-up hassle.

Have any of y'all ever heard of correctly changed dry filters letting dust ruin an engine?

im not a fan of oiled filters... i live in a dusty environment, so i think will suffer from clogged... and yes the one i removed was oiled... and much much smaller that the stock S&B oiled or not.... i prefer dry disposable filters and my power and throttle response woke up bigtime... i love it newly
