Drove to GA to visit my brother for the weekend. Had a bit of a mishap on 75 about two hours north of my brother...

Got another tire put on so we could venture back home on Monday

Was browsing CL down here just messing around and came across these wheels with basically new tires for $850.

So, something good came of our mishap.
Looks good, like the other wheels better, but these are clean too. Now needs some nobs on them like the wheels before.

Other wheels were nice, but really showing their age from being up north in the salt. The Falken's will be swapped over to the new wheels once I get one to replace the one we destroyed on the trip down.

I don't have the autoride suspension like you guys, but I'm really curious : How do you decide which/what resistor to use? Watts, windings etc. And why are some of the metal housings on the resistors different colors?

Color doesnt matter. Wattage is a matter of what the resistors are able to handle. 25w is enough. 39ohm is the resistance # that matters for this scenario apparently. I suspect through trial and error someone figured that out.

Just replaced my tierods because I had some clanking and popping sounds when I would turn. It got a little better but still there. Looked at my upper control arm ball joints and they look awful. One boot has a tear in it. So going to try to get those replaced soon. And i have decided I'm not going through with any of these ideas I've had of performance mods or any other mods, my final decision is to sadly sell the tahoe. I'm starting to see too many potential problems down the road. The front end suspension is shot, I've started to notice spots of oil on the ground where I park, I'm sure it's a seal but i just don't think it's worth the hassle. She's practically got a quarter million miles. Sure a new engine is only around 800-1k but don't think it's worth it to drop a new engine in it. So this spring I plan to put her up for sale asking 5k hoping to get 4K. This year while at school I'm going to get a job and save another 2-3k, to have around 5-6k for a down payment on a new truck. Looking at a 98-02 ram 2500, or an 07-13 Silverado 1500

I got up early and swapped out the modified torsion-bar keys & installed the shock extenders; my truck is leveled now. I called around to get some costs for tire mount & balance...$60-$80 and 1 place will charge extra to remove the 2 wheel locks. i haven't done it this way in a long time but I'm pretty sure that it only cost $20-$30 total back then. $60 for mounting + $90 for alignment,
:wtf:
I'm going to go return the torsion key tool, buy some Ejuice, & see how it rides. The cheapest quote that I have to mount/balance/align is @ a Chrysler dealership so I may have to roll as-is for a few days.

Tires mount&balance = $50
2" torsion key level = $45
Cooper 275x20 t/o's = $120
Alignment Monday = $70+
Then all it needs is 1.5" spacers in back & brakes x4

Dodge doesn't come without its front-end quirks. My cous' had a HD dodge that almost killed him & a family of 5 when a steering link came off or something while driving on the highway. I can't even think about it; seems like my worst nightmare. Stick with GM

I know the problems that come with that model of ram trucks, my dad owned an 02 for 12 years. Those issues are why I'm still undecided. What's keeping still interested in the ram is in the 12 years and 350k miles my dad had that truck it never hesitated to start. Those Cummins engines are tanks when it comes to reliability and that's what I'm looking for right now because the next thing I buy I want to last for a long time.

I have had a few of these trucks. Currently, I have a 2013 Ram 2500 with the cummins. Truth is that the engine is great and the rest of the truck is complete garbage unless you have the 6spd manual or the Aisan auto in the newer 3500's. But still....the trucks are garbage!

I love the ram trucks. Excellent choice with the Cummins too. Imo not garbage. Pointless to have a manual anymore these days.

Maybe with that generation but with the 2nd generation I'm looking at the only major issues are the injection pump and the transmission. I'm looking for a manual to get rid of the trans problem and the injection pump problem can be eliminated with a bigger fuel pump. I don't want to sound like a know it all but before I got the tahoe the plan was for me to get my dads work truck which was a 2nd generation ram so I was doing tons of research on those trucks and what issues they had.
