Went to a driveshaft place, who said they can't do much until I do something with the y pipe. If I was able to fix or move the y, they'd build a custom shaft, which would be thinner, but just as thick walled, using my old part that goes into the transfer case(forgot what it's called) for what I consider a reasonable price. But that damn y pipe! It's in the way of the prop shaft, along with a header tube. I go to one exhaust place who wasn't any help at all. This is what I'm working with. View attachment 74821Almost hits the tube, and once the shaft is in, the universal will def hit the tube, so it would need to be dimpled. View attachment 74822Can't really tell from this pic, but the y is at least 1 1/2" over the dip in the cross member for the prop shaft. Just plain tight, and I don't want to squash the y, what would've been the sense of getting it if I did that! Defeats the purpose Imo. View attachment 74824Just so damn tight. View attachment 74825

I totally get that you don't want to bash your shiny new Y pipe... but check this out:

Exhaust Header Bash! Testing Power Loss From Dents - Engine Masters Ep. 4

Its not going to make as big of a difference as you think.

Escalade? The one from YouTube? I thought it was a Tahoe. I honestly don't remember.

Na there was some guy on here that replied to some thread about those headers and he mentioned they fit and he had the y-pipe too pretty sure he posted pics so u could see how they fit being AWD it would be a similar fit to yours, it was tight but somehow it fit

Wow! I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't just see it. I wonder if that'll also apply to the y pipe, since both headers merge into the one pipe. Guess I shouldn't really be concerned about singing one or two tubes on the header. Thx for the video.

No problem man. Hope it helps you get it done. They sure had to beat the piss out of their headers to cause a power loss on the dyno, so a couple clearance dents wont be an issue.

Honestly... that's what I would do.
Think it could crack the y? Because it's right where the pipes are joined with the clamp that's interfering. That's also what the exhaust guy said when I also told him to just bash it for clearance, but not too bad.

If your exhaust guy couldn't handle making that modification and/or repairing a crack then you need a new exhaust guy lol.

I have the same tails and everything fit fine for me. Haven't had trouble yet, other than the fact that they don't really diffuse like the stock housings do.

What do you mean by diffuse like the stock housings do?

Like the stock housing has the texture on the inside of the housing so that the light diffuses, but with this one it's just tinted red so you'd need a brighter bulb than stock.

Exactly what I was thinking. After all, they are supposed to be able to WELD the damn exhaust together. He should be able to pull the Y off, cut and weld if needed, and reinstall it. Or do it in place. Take it to a REAL exhaust shop.

I was just gonna say, he seems to be a ghetto shop. I'm gonna take it some place else, but I know it's not gonna be cheap.
