I just bought an Autocraft Gold in January from Advanced auto parts for my 01 burban. I've had Optimas in the past in other vehicles, but never had one last more than 2 years at the most. For the extra cost of an Optima, I can't justify it anymore if its gonna crap out in 2 years or so. I just decided to find the biggest (most cranking amps) battery I could find with the best warranty at a reasonable price. I found this 800 CCA one at Advance Auto for just over 100 bucks out the door, with a 48 month free replacement warranty, and a 84 month pro-rated warranty.

Diehard platinum P-4. 880CCA; 4 year free replacement and 100 month prorated warranty. I've gone through 3-4 Optima yellow/ red top batteries. They didn't seem to last me more than 2-3 years before crapping out on me. This was between 2 different vehicles over the past 3 years.

Duralast Gold

FWIW Optima, DieHard, Duralast, Interstate, ProStart, Everstart, Autocraft, Napa, plus a bunch of others are made or owned by Johnson Controls

actually the Diehard p4 is an Odyssey battery with different labels. Military grade stuff.

I love this quote "Military grade stuff". Its funny cause I am in the military and we use whatever. I think it just goes to the cheapest bidder

Duralast Gold, I was a bit suspect at first however, it's been a good choice.

Didn't know that, JCI must just make the regular DieHard and the DieHard Golds then

I had both a yellow and a red top Optima in the past. While they do work very well at first, they crap out fairly quick. My yellow top lasted a grand total of 13 months. My red top lasted a littlre over two years. I was really pissed about the yellow top because they said it only had a one year warranty. Except for the short life span, Optima is a pretty good battery. But that is their major downfall. I'd rather buy a battery that won't leave me stranded somwhere.

I was just looking at their site, it looks like they upped the warranty to 3 years now.(Red Top)
