Difference in quality of VVT solenoid. 08 yukon denali xl-1500 6.2 140,000 miles. Im replacing the water pump and radiator. wanted to do the VVT solenoid and cam position sensor. ordered all AC DELCO OEM parts but im having a hard time accepting the quality of the delco replacement solenoid #12653140 which replaces the OE 12585995. have any of you had success with the new replacement solenoid? i wish i could get my pic's to load but that is another challenge. The design of the replacement solenoid is a stamped "cheap" flange that does not match the quality of the original. It isnt broke, should i simply reinstall the oe and continue to run it?

I wouldn’t hesitate to put the new one in, but the one on my 2007 went 270K miles with no issues.

thanks for the reply/opinion. Im on the fence, there was no specific reason to change it other than the water pump is off and im just trying to pamper this vehicle that we love sooooo much! But there is such a thing as "fix it til it breaks". Im in the process of trying to remove the cam position sensor, yea it has varnished up/expanded and wont pull through the cover. I got some carb cleaner and will spray it to help disolve the buildup and hopefully get it to come out. than the pump can go on and i can finish this project up.

Sometimes the oe stuff is built better in my opinion, as years go by they try to save a few penny's anyway they can, on the other hand sometimes stuff is made better later usually the latter though.
this one on ebay is stamped with the oe number

that one is the ACdelco oe replacement, that is the one i got from rock auto. the oe is 12585995, 12654140 is the replacement. i guess ill simply install the new one and roll the dice. i did finally get the cam position sensor out, it was no fun. I love this vehicle so i have simply accepted the "slight rumble/stumble idle" as inherent to the 6.2 but maybe the vvt is a contributing factor so ill throw the sensors at it and see if it smooths out. im going to have my 9 yo daughter teach me how to upload pic's which make all posts so much more informative. i have all the pic,s in my phone and the computer says there are no new pictures to upload????????????????????ARGH

Can’t you upload them direct from your phone? That’s usually what I do.

aah I didn't catch ebay switching the numbers up on me.
my 6.2l doesn't stumble at idle, purrs like a kitten, maybe the intake needs to be cleaned up? I clean mine about every 3 months or so, speaking of which I am about due to clean it :D

My 6.2 doesn't stumble either

i have read numerous posts in regard to "rough idle" on the 6.2 and accepted it as inherent. It isnt as though the car shakes and people who have ridden in it have ever noticed it but it is there. Our 09 government work van has the 6.0 with 9k miles on it and does the same thing. it spends alot of time idleing as we use it to wait on inbound helos with the ac running. so your 6.2 when idleing has "no" noticeable roughness at idle? other than the sound you cant "feel" the engine running? "smooth as glass"? Im replacing upstream o2 sensors, cps,vvt now and maybe ill do maf,map and throttle body in the near future.

what is your method? are you simply cleaning the throttle body?
I usually pull off the intake pipe, pull out the maf and spray the crap out of it with maf cleaner and set it to the side to dry, then I get a soft rag (one that doesn't leave lint) and spray both the rag and the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and just hold the plate open with a finger while I clean all over with the rag, it's ok to be generous with the spray wont hurt anything, usually give it a good 2-3 times over reaching in the intake as far as I can, when you don't get any more black smudges on the rag then you know it's clean enough. then put the intake pipe back on and put the maf back on. sometimes when you use a lot of the cleaner it can make it idle a little rough for a second or two when you start it back up but it clears right up.
only tip I can give you is DO NOT pull on the throttle plate hard, just hold it enough to keep it open it's only going to move so far and stop, then just make sure you have the intake all back on correctly and tight, if you get it back on ****-eyed it can suck unmetered air in past the MAF.

Just went out and did it, this is before and after the shadow on top of the plate is just from the light, as you can see it doesn't get very dirty since I keep it clean, seen some that are caked in black soot like a dirty chimney

This is my idle
Ok, im a believer now! That is smooth as glass and as soon as the oreilleys opens ill get a can of maf cleaner. the maf elements look like some type of sediment are on them and the throttle plate has got some soot/blowby residue buildup so ill get that also. Thanks! I want an idle like that, these vehicles are so luxurious to ride in and my idle has never matched the ride!

that's a little itty bitty thing, it will fit right up front no problem

that would be wayyyyy to easy. im going to lay on my back under the front bumper and fabricate til my knuckles bleed until i wish i would have simply done what is proven to work, trucool 40k in front of the radiator. It is different in that the stacked plate/fan design make it really functional for it's size and slow climbs/stop and go it operates at peak efficiency, plus all the trans heat is eliminated from in front of the radiator. We live in the high desert in ca and the season of the death star is allmost upon us, it could be 100+ for june, july, august.

You could cut a spot right in the center of the front splash guard and then reinforce it with metal brackets I don't think that would be very difficult
