In my dash making some space. Wondering if anyone has ever just yanked the whole VCIM and driven around. Does it throw codes on anything?

I have no need for Onstar or the Bluetooth. Losing those two won't bother me a bit and I'd like the real estate. Would like to either put the HD Radio receiver or my carputer in its place.

You might get some codes, I know I did. Then just disconnected the negative for a reset

Interesting, did they come back?

My concern is the stupid 2 way CAN bus communication creating ghosts down the road. I don't "need" the spot, but it would make my install easier.

If it truly creates a situation like that I'll hold off for now until I work on cracking the CAN bus further as I'd eventually like to be rid of the HVAC controls and to computerize those as well. Just don't have a ton of time right now with the Supercharger and go fast goodies coming.

Nope never came back, switching the vcim will not give you any issues, I'm running a 2012 vcim for a few years now

Hadn't planned on switching it, but removing it. Scared that if there is not a can bus signal received/returned it'll throw a code. Thought someone on here could use the blue tooth if I take it out too....just dont want errors
