I'm hoping that somebody knows the answer to this - or can point me in the direction of somebody who might know the answer.

I have a 2010 GMC Yukon XL2500. I would like to upgrade the brakes - and have looked at the Wilwood stuff as well as a bunch of other aftermarket upgrades. The Wilwood kits are expensive - and require 20" wheels. So there would be a wheel upgrade required too.

One of the least expensive ways to upgrade the wheels - is to use OEM wheels - but GM went to the 8x180 pattern in the 2011 and newer stuff - and the 2010 Yukon still has the 8x6.5 pattern. So unless I use adapters (not recommended) - or start drilling hubs and pressing in new studs - that's not an easy conversion.

Here is where it gets interesting: I saw a video on Youtube from Duraburb (guy who does Duramax diesel conversions into Suburbans) - and he had video showing the body off the frame on a 2017 or 2018 3500 Suburban (COPO purchase - used mostly for .gov and commercial buyers) - well he claimed that the frame on the 2017/2018 HD Suburbans - was the same frame that has been under the 2500 series Suburbans and Yukon XL's - since like 2001.

So here's the question: what did GM do to get a suspension (front especially) that uses the 8x180mm bolt pattern wheels onto that frame? Did they just change out the hubs? Did they change out the entire front suspension? ( I read somewhere the 2011 and up trucks have a different geometry than the older stuff).

What I'm wondering here is: is there maybe a direct *bolt on* way of getting both bigger brakes (the 2011 and up trucks had bigger brakes than previous years) - as well as going to the 20" wheels - by just swapping over some components?

I'm not so much concerned about the rear axle - that is easier since I'm pretty sure hubs or axles can be swapped over. The front suspension is the more complicated issue.
