Good day fellow Tahoe lovers, we found this welded to the frame on the front end and do not have a clue as to what it is or it’s intended purpose.

Looks like it is welded there for reinforcement for the side frame channels and the cross member. I would look very carefully for any cracks in the side channels and the cross member. You may not find any and it was put there to help stiffen those areas. Looks like some "Hillbilly Engineering".

I bought the truck with 63k miles on it from the 1st owner, as far as I know it never had any front end attachments. The front end loos completely stock. It wasn’t readily visible until the engine was pulled.

Did the truck have a winch on the front?

You are speaking of the tubular strut weled to frame each side, drivers below steering shaft, correct? Thats factory and its a support for cront control arm mount/ skid /deflector plates.

That part looks like it had broke loose and been rewelded then because it is not even side to side unless is supposed to be or was butchered at one time.

Thanks, it didn't look factory due to the appearance of the welds and support welded on the bar on one side.
