Uh oh, bad news bears :(

So I bought a 98 Tahoe a week ago Friday, over the last 4 or 5 days I noticed I was losing coolant pretty regularly, enough to the point I would have to add up to half a gallon daily. Did an oil change yesterday after failing to find a leak with a pressure testing system, well there was an extra 2 quarts of coolant in the oil when I drained it....

That was pretty much my worst fear, now here's where it gets interesting. I just bought this used from a dealer a week ago, however there was no warranty on it from their end. I'm gonna call the guy who sold it to me tomorrow and see what he says, as I'm sure the head gasket or manifold intake gasket was leaking/bad when he sold it to me. Anyone have any idea on the course of action I should take? I'm gonna call the BBB and see what they say, if I actually have any legal ground to stand on. I've never been in this situation before, and honestly I'm a little worried about what to do.

Also, since there wasn't any white smoke coming out of the exhaust I think I caught the leak "fairly early". What are the chances it's only the intake manifold gasket, vs. the head gasket? On Wednesday I did a full radiator flush as I had to replace the thermostat, and it appears dexcool was in there before the flush and the motor has 155k on it.

Yea nnbs sucks now u can use the lemmon law on them. Even if its used as long as the repair is like close to the price then they have to cover it if ill correct. Don't remember it that good but usa lemmon law should help u

BBB won't help you out. It's an independent agency without teeth because it has no legal power. This is why companies with an F rating can still operate. Look into the department of consumer protection, or whatever it is called in your state. Some states have laws that give you up to 30 says to back out of a contact. Dealers hate, but when the state agency comes down on them they will comply for fear of a lawsuit, fines, and likelihood of losing their business license. If it was represented that the vehicle was in good working condition, and free of major mechanical defects, you could have grounds for recourse here.

go to the manager over the salesman. The salesman usually cant do anything besides the old, "Let me go talk to my manager..." Save some time and go straight to the manager.

Doubt anything is going to happen. Its used and didnt come with a warranty. Just fix the intake gasket for a few hundred bucks and away you go. The intake gaskets are KNOWN for going bad.. IMO
the time you basically waste for fighting this, will actually take longer then if you got it fixed and moved on..

True, although I don't know how to do any of this stuff on my own, and I'm pretty afraid of screwing it up. I see this post here, looks like if I get the head gasket replaced I should have all that stuff swapped out at the same time? There is a local guy I trust, gonna call him and discuss the whole thing to make sure we are on the same page about what is going to done to it.

it should be standard practice to do the intake gasket set and fuel injectors when acquiring a new to you Hoe.
