Totaled '03 Z71, already bought another

A few weeks ago our beloved '03 Tahoe was totaled when a driver in a Tacoma ran a red light at high rate of speed, t-***** a GMC Pickup, and pushed the GMC into my '03 Tahoe z71. All three trucks were totaled. I was on my way to pick up my kids from daycare, thankful my wife and kids were not in the car. The at fault insurance has already accepted 100% liability.

Already went out and bought another '03 Z71 in white for half the cost of what insurance gave me for the old one. Decided to upgrade a few cosmetic things and detailed it over the weekend. Miss the black but the white is starting to grow on me.

I opted to let the insurance keep it. Got more money that way and didn't have to deal with a salvage title. Got almost $8k for the old one with 221k on the odometer. Only paid $4k for the white one with 211k.

While I agree the loss of the old one is a bummer, I like the choice of white. It looks sharp and clean.

Nice! I hope my story unfolds the same from my wreck.
And the white is tight bro! I love black, but white or silver is my favorite vehicle color. Shows off the body lines much better since you can see the shadows (ie: lines on the hood). Black hides em.

Glad it all worked out. I like both rides, but the white is nice. Super jealous that you can just run out and pick up a replacement vehicle for 4k. Those don't exist here in WI/IL

Thank you. I honestly feel I got lucky. I knew the replacement had to be a Z71 and the only other nice example in my area at the time was an '05 in black with 170k miles, two owner, with asking price of $7500. I probably would've went for it but the guy never got back to me.

That front end looks super clean man. The only thing I think would maybe do is paint the lower valance black. Strickly black and white looks mean! But hey, to each his own!

While I agree black trim would look great, I'm kind of a sucker for that stock grey. I used cerakote on all plastics and it really brought it all back to life.

Thank you! The estimate to repair the black one was around $6k before any tear down or supplements. Unfortunately cost to repair was close to or exceeded the value so they totaled it. Had the value been greater it probably would have been considered repairable.

Our state does not allow "totaled" vehicles to be put back on the road. Once it gets that designation it's salvage only.
