Tire fitiment

Hello all, I have a 99 Tahoe with 16 inch rims. I know I can go as large as 285/75r16 which is what I have been planning, but What would be the biggest I could go if I moved up to a 17 inch wheel? I noticed that the pricing of the tires were cheaper with the 17 inch wheel. I was thinking of getting new rims and tires in the next few months anyway. I don't want to have to lift or modify the truck.

285/70R17 = 32.70" tall
285/65R18 = 32.58" tall
