No typo. It is Amsoil Signature Series synthetic designed for 25k highway miles. I change at 15k for combined driving per my mechanic's recommendations.

As far as OP, it is really unfortunate that you’ve let the rah rah get to your head. The failure-per-vehicles-produced ratio is quite low.

But For one thing, there’s no way I would put an 80-90K truck for sale on FBMP or Craigslist in particular. Some might disagree fine, but truth is any vehicle transaction over 20K has no business being done private party imo for a plethora of reasons. Sell it outright to a dealer, carmax, carvana, or some legit company that actually has the funds to back the check they cut you.

I don’t have the luxury of saying nah, i don’t want it anymore after spending 100k on a truck, but if i was in your shoes, maybe I’d sell it and then go get a Tahoe with the diesel.

No offense was meant by anyone. I asked the question because it is highly unusual for someone to change oil at 15k miles on these trucks. That does not mean that it is wrong or anything else negative with the practice, it simply means that this specific oil change mileage interval is different than the norm. Regarding opinions, we all have opinions and we are all free to express them in a respectful manner.

Doesn't really matter how good the oil is when it has an appreciable amount of fuel dilution in it ,,,, and these direct injection engines are notorious for fuel dilution.

If you haven't already, it might be an eye opener to run a used oil analysis. Blackstone labs is a popular place that does them, but Amsoil even third parties out a place to do used oil analysis if you want to go through them.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. In the below UOA (used oil analysis) I had 1.3% fuel dilution ,,,, but I only had 3K miles on that oil. At that rate , the oil would've had 6.5% fuel dilution at 15K miles, which is bad, like real bad. Wouldn't matter if it was Amsoil or Walmart supertech in the crankcase if there is 6.5% fuel in there with it.

That is good feedback. I would like some concrete evidence that the failure rate is low. I know 3 people with this engine and one is bad.. I am hoping it is a low rate of failure and if it is I would certainly keep the rig. I see what my buddy is going through with GM to get resolution on his and it is not pretty.. Do you have a basis for an opinion that the failure rate is low?

I know several people who have had this engine fail.

My 2023 is currently 2 states away from me waiting for its 3rd engine in 36k miles. It’s left me stranded and in dangerous situations twice.

Generally speaking, when NHTSA gets involved with an issue, the failure rate isn't what most would consider low enough.
