I have a 2004 Tahoe taillight on drivers side not working but break light is working is this common and what can I check to try to fix the problem

I'd check the bulbs first. Then maybe fuses... But really you aren't giving enough details about your ride. Were/are you using LEDs? Have you made any changes, anywhere? Did it just die, or has it always been dead?

I already changed the bulb they are the stock taillights and it stopped working about 3-4 days ago I haven't changed the fuses they seem to be ok

Fuses can look good and not be. I'd locate a fuse that matches the one on the tail lights, and swap them, to be sure. That's the easy test. Next thing is to trace the wires from the tail lights toward the cab. On my Suburban, for example, we lost both tail lights as the harness had worn through and shorted out.

Since it is only one side, it's not going to be the switch at the pedal.
