well, my drivers side tail light (brakes only) went out.

Seems folks are saying there is a national back order and it’s $435 for the single light....

I’m not looking for smoked, nor anything crazy looking.

Who is making a quality aftermarket light that doesn’t look all alteza?

You can just fix yours. Mine is having the same issue, but only when it’s hot out. It’s easy to fix if you’re even a little handy with a soldering iron. There’s two small points in the circuitry that very predictably fail, so you can open just that portion of the housing.

Look it up - it’s super common.

You’d have to cut the whole housing open. Just my opinion, but a lot more opportunity for moisture intrusion if you go that route. Doesn’t seem necessary if only the two known points are what fail.

I opened the one spot. It was broken in two spots there.

Had a hard time getting the solder to stick to the shiny metal tabs.

Put it back together and it worked... kind of. There Cleary is a break in the other half as well because the center part of the brake light still doesn’t work.

I’ll have to take it apart again later.

Wife had me order the protuning lab lights as she doesn’t want to be chasing this problem on the other side when they brake as well.

I’ve seen some of the aftermarket taillights on other trucks around town and they look pretty good. Seems like a decent option to me. Which color/finish did you go with?

The gloss black. The others seemed to have the reverse light reflector too... too... bright.

But i also wanted to make sure the back ground was red still.

I wonder if I should swap the reverse bulb for an led while I’m doing the swap.

It’s a 921 bulb equivelant?

I had mine fixed, but I have a brand new oem set I received from the dealer if you are wanting oem. Pm if interested.
Sorry, if I hadn’t already ordered and installed the protuning lab ones...
