So I recently did the led dash conversion with blue leds (probably going to swap to red later) at the same time I also ordered 4 led 194s in white for my map lights. As a delivery driver it really helps at night to be able to read the slips.

In any case I was satisfied for a while until one of the leds started acting up. It appears to have a cold solder joint and needs rma'd. In the meantime I figured I'd just bite the bullet and get one of the silverstar leds from the local chain and im glad I did, I know the pics arent the greatest but thr silverstar on the left is 3 times brighter at the very least

My brother bought some of the LED 194's and they suck in my opinion. They are unidirectional and the light just looks bad.

they look pretty good behind the dash, very little hot spotting, and aside from the lack of white light on the odometer and trip meter i really like them. The Silverstars are actually shaped like a regular 194 as well so perhaps it's just hitting more of the shield. All i know is that if i turn that light on at night and look down it's like looking in the daylight.

It depends A LOT on what LED you buy. they have different style LEDs, how many LEDs on each bulb, the angle you chose, and the color you choose.

I'm completely happy with the purchases I've made from superbrightleds.com over the past 4 or so years

These were 120 degree but I'm not sure what the lumen output was.

I'm also happy with SuperBightLEDs. They've been great for me. I plan buying some for around my house to be powered with a computer power supply.

What would you recommend from superbright to match this 55lumen?

for those map lights I use WLED-xHP9-T: 194 LED Bulb - 9 SMD LED Wedge Base Tower WLED-WHP9-T: Cool White but it takes some grinding of fixture to fit.

I don't get those overpriced leds. I either make my own or buy eBay ones just depends

grinding the fixture certainly isn't an issue, i'll check those out. I was just surprised at how much brighter the silverstars were but it seems that's due to the type i chose from superbrite, and nothing else. I'm also toying with the idea of getting a flush mounted 2x4 inch led lite in the overhead console's glasses compartment that's run off of the main interior light

Well if you put those 120° types in the maps lights it is that one led with no reflectors at all. You would want 360° types in fixtures with reflector to have good light output.
