interesting. yeah that doesn't look quite like a gm oem unit which may answer why there's no relay in the factory location and the switch looks non-oem too. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Some times to close the glass fully the tilt circuit needs to be activated partially to push the glass up and seal it. the oem unit has a control module that controls the motor and does this automatically. I assume this aftermarket may do something similar. let us know how it works out.

Not helpful, but I had no idea aftermarket power sunroofs were a thing. Hope you get it sorted out.
Also not helpful - I looked into having one installed in my first '01 Tahoe. It was going to be $2,200. I went for 22" wheels & tires instead.

So I jumped in the Tahoe this morning to leave for work and just for fun I pushed the sunroof switch to see what would happen. Today it opens and closes. But it won't stay closed because I think I messed up the alignment of the window because I was messing around with the mounts for connecting it to the track so now it's crooked. But I have no idea what to think right now after screwing around with this thing for the last couple days.

Straighten the track, if you can. But, also put some lithium grease on the tracks and see if it moves better.

I don't have a recommendation on the alignment of the sunroof, but I wanted to bring up a connected issue that I discovered in my old 2002 Tahoe.

My wife had driven my truck to work one fall day when I had taken my back-up truck and for some reason opened the sunroof in the parking garage before considering what was going on outside ... and yes, it was raining and she couldn't figure out what to do other than leave the parking garage. To this day I do not know why she wouldn't loop the block and go back in the garage or pull over under a freeway underpass for me to come to her instead of her taking the 25 minute drive to me! So at least it was summer for you.

My Tahoe's issue was that for some reason the sunroof hadn't auto-stopped, and it popped off the end of the track.

That's right, there were no physical stops at the end of the sunroof rails.

I too had to pull the roof liner out (or partway out) and was able to manually reseat the sunroof. I can't remember if there were already holes in the track I used or if I had to drill some, but I dropped a carriage bolt and nut at the end of each rail to prevent it from happening again.

It sounds like this may not have been the case in regards to the OP's problem, but I wanted to make sure this was one of the considerations when dealing with stuck sunroofs for NBS / GMT-800 SUVs.

Dang….. so many different issues I didn’t know about could happen with these things. lol. I was lucky my track pieces snapped but lodged right at the forward bit of track so it would drop to open and then just stop. But I got even luckier that mine would still close. So I left it closed to prevent it getting stuck and then was able to replace the broken parts albeit with new plastic ones….. wah wah wah….. lol. Anyways I seem to remember that my tracks maybe had carriage bolts at the end in place…maybe not... It’s been quite a few years since I had the whole thing opened up. Mine has also never not stopped where it should so I guess I’m lucky. lol. But I’ve seen where they can get stuck all the way open…. Not fun….

I’ve also replaced my headliner and the wasn’t exactly a thrilling project either lol. But it’s manageable to get at the sunroof track behind the liner if you’re handy with tools.

Well still really haven't figured much out. I at least got the sunroof to close after getting the window alignment fixed. The weatherstripping is starting to come off though so I might have to remove the window at some point so I can fix that. I'm afraid to mess with it right now since I finally have it closed. But really no idea what caused the issue with it not closing to begin with. It was intermittently not wanting to function at times so it wouldn't open or close.

Sounds like you have a loose or damaged wire. That is, occasionally the wire opens the circuit used to power your sunroof. Me experience has been that the wire corrodes within the wiring sheethe, then breaks. It still remains in contact under most circumstances, but will jiggle loose, intermittently. Alternatively, you could have a loose ground, causing the same symptoms. Or, for funsies, multiples of either of those scenarios. Good luck in getting it fixed, in any case.
