Hey Guys Couple of things I am trying to resolve on the new suburban 2012 LT - 6" RCX Lift (maybe a 2" body lift) and 35's on it. Just bought it off a lot as is and found a couple of issues that I could use some feedback on.

1. Cut tires all the way rt or left and the tires were rubbing the under body of the fender below the driver / passenger door. Was wondering if anyone had any solutions to this.

2. Also noticed that when I cut the wheel hard I get a loud knock when making the turn from the front suspension. Not sure if this is common or something that is just heard and left alone.

Trying to hold this dealer accountable if something is wrong here I want them to fix it before I lose the NY state mandated Warranty.

thanks

Can you get underneath it and see if you do in fact have a body lift? What width 35's? What wheel size, specifically offset? Pics will help if you can't figure out the info. The knock you get is probably your steering stops grinding...no harm done, just unnerving. You can put a dab of grease on them if you want, helps for a few months. Also, this is the 2015+ section and not too many guys have lifted their rides yet...you may have more luck in the older body style forum...but if you can find out any of the above info, please post back...I'm not super smart, but i've owned, installed, and maintained my share of lift kits. On that note, IFS lift kits are notorious for getting knocked out of whack and needed a "tune up" of sorts every year or two.

Wheel off set and tire size are too big for a 6" lift. NNBS's do not have very wide wheelwells.

My apologies...you are in the right section. IFS vehicles in general take lots of lift to clear bigger tires. You can change your offset with new wheels which is pricey. I'm not a fan of wheel spacers but do have several friends running them on big lift Duramaxes with no problems. You're not likely to find a narrower tire either. Is it rubbing on a body seam? If so it's common to remove the wheel liner and hammer the seam sideways until it's flat.

thats basically what I had to do - I was a hammer mechanic to stop the body rubbing and seemingly the click is coming from another spot...A moving part - I will get under there and investigate further...

just need to be safe because if I put fender flares on it I do not want to rub them right off....

was thinking for them the bush wacker pocket style flares but use the ones off the avalanche...anyone know if the 2 match up - suburban to avalanche?

Can't be certain but I think so, best way to tell is go find a avalanche in the parking lot and compare them side by side.

For rubbing you need the normal fender mod which is basically hammering the fender edge inside the plastic liner. To clear 35s you need a 7-8" lift with 4.5" backspace or 6" with 5" backspace
