I just filled up and now 2012 Z71 Tahoe will not start. Have code p2535. Lights, radio etc work; just nothing happens when I turn the key. Any advice to maybe get it started and back to the house for in depth diagnosis?

Possible causes
  • Faulty Ignition Switch
  • Ignition Switch harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition Switch circuit poor electrical connection

you could maybe try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if it reset's long enough to get it home, but other than that I don't know

Disconnected battery for a few mins and nothing changed. Smacked the underwood fuse box out of frustration and anger then tried it again after another cigarette and it fired right up. Got home, turned it off then tried to start it again after a few minutes and it fired right up. Any ideas on how to progress with trouble shooting?

pull the box off and clean the contacts up underneath is about all I can advise, these fuse boxes seem to be a reoccurring issue for the same or similar problems.

Funny, I don't have that code in my service manuals.
Yea, I haven't seen this one before either. Anyone know the specs on the ignition switch or have some wiring diagrams so I can start assessing the harness?

Take it to an Auto Zone and have them check the battery, starter, and alternator. All 3 can be tested on the vehicle.

My starter did this exact thing. Random no starts until it left me 120 miles from home. AWD made is super to swap.

A common cause for this no-start is a switch that is mounted to the transmission. It looks for the transmission to be either in park or neutral. Moving the gear shift selector from park to neutral will sometimes allow the engine to start if the park switch position is intermittently (or permanently) failing. (Foot on brake if doing this). If this fix doesn't work, the ignition switch is the likely problem.

Why was it so ******* AWD? I have an 07 Denali. I bought an low mileage starter for a backup just in case mine acts a fool. What all did you have to to?
