just make sure you get the fuse AND yellow connector that leads up the steering.
There are type of airbag retention mechanisms below but first a warning:

================================================================

WARNING: When carrying a live inflator module, make sure the bag opening is pointed away from you. In case of accidental deployment, the bag will then deploy with a minimal chance of personal injury. Never carry the inflator module by the wires or connectors on the underside of the module. When placing a alive inflator module on a bench or other surface, always face the bag and trim cover up, away from the surface. This is necessary so that a tree apace la provided to allow the air bag to expand in the unlikely event of accidental deployment. Never rest a steering column assembly on the steering wheel with the inflator module face down and the column vertical. Otherwise, personal injury may result .

==============================================================

Now onto the fun part.

This is if you have a ball lock unit:

Disable the SIR system. See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming\Service and Repair
Negative battery cable.
Turn steering wheel 90 degrees to access rear shroud holes to inflator module.
Release each of four ball lock fasteners by pushing a ball-point pen or similar device into the end of each fastener through the holes in the steering shroud.
Inflator module (tilt rearward from the top to access SIR wiring).
SIR lead wire from clip on inflator module.
SIR lead wire from clip on steering wheel.
Connector position assurance (CPA) and retainer from the inflator module.

Leaf spring and notch pin type:

Disable the SIR system. See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming\Service and Repair
Negative battery cable.
Turn steering wheel 90°to access rear shroud holes to inflator module.
Insert screw driver and push leaf spring to release pin.
Turn steering wheel 180°to access remaining rear shroud holes.
Insert screw driver and push leaf spring to release pin.
Inflator module (tilt rearward from the top to access SIR wiring).
SIR lead wire from clip on inflator module.
SIR lead wire from clip on steering wheel.
Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and retainer from the inflator module.

After you get it out do the horn contact and pull the wheel.

deff pull the battey cables off wayyy before you work on the truck. Air bags can go off up to 30 minutes after the cables are pulled. Watch out!

That is why you pull the yellow connector so the diagnostic energy reserve module (DERM) can't fire it. It is the device that stores the voltage charge. And you don't have to wait a while. The inflator module should not be holding an electrical charge at all. On our trucks anyway.
