I ran the voltage drop test, and I have a 0.23 volt drop on the negative battery cable to the engine block and a 0.01 voltage drop on the positive battery cable to the main fuse block. As such, the negative battery cable is above the maximum threshold of 0.20 volts, so I will replace all battery cables at the same time.

I took the truck out for a 15 mile drive and a 10 mile drive on local streets, respectively, and I had no DIC warnings. After both runs, I checked for trouble codes, and there were none.

So............. I 'think' that I am in the clear, but it will take a lot more miles of trouble code free driving, before I can fully trust the truck again.

After the replacement battery cables are in place, and I have no new trouble codes, then I will label this issue and thread as SOLVED. At this point, I believe that the source of my issue was either a bad ground #300, or the chafed wire on the transmission wire cluster.

I put another 20 miles on the truck yesterday, and I had no trouble codes when I returned and hooked up the scanner. Building trust.....

for future reference that "bcm ground" problem was only noted on some of the early k2 pickups, apparently the production line was a little over zealous with the glue and it caused some grounding problems for the bcm, as far as I know it has never been noted for the earlier gen vehicles.

Good to know, as I really did not want to get into the dash disassembly work.
