I have an 08 Tahoe, new to me about 2 months ago. The serpentine belt is squeeking and I can't figure out how to stop it. I have changed the alternator, idler pully, tentioner, tensioner pully, and belt. Still driving me crazy

My 2005 has a squeaking A/C clutch bearing. As I tell people, I have a tweety bird under the hood!

As mentioned, put the A/C belt and see what happens.

Could be the crank outer pulley separating from the inner hub which causes a misalignment. The inner and outer parts are held together by rubber that deteriorates with age. I changed mine recently as preventative mx.

It's time to take a mechanic's stethoscope or long extension to isolate this sound. If you have long hair, get it out of the way. Stick one end in your ear and touch the various parts to isolate the source of the sound. Be careful.

You said you have only had it about 2 months. Do you have any maintenance records?

It is also possible that the power steering pump pulley is slightly out of alignment which will cause the belt to squeak.

Stick a straight edge across the face of the various pulleys to see if there is any misalignment.

I chased and chased a "squeak" on one of the accessories on cold start one time...ended up being the water pump...

I've had the same thing recently on a Jeep JK with 140K miles. I just replaced everything since I had no history anyway. Nice and quiet now.

My squeak (in a 2011 Av 5.3) turned out to be a stuck lifter ROLLER. Gad. Wiped out the cam. Took off the heads and discovered #8 cylinder was so far out of round the rings weren't even touching the back side of the bore.

Always wondered why the oil got so dirty so fast.

One would think that it would be misfiring, or be down on power, but I raced a buddy's nearly identical truck, and both were the same. Go figure.

Bought an L96 6.0 for it. Plus a shit-ton of other parts - billet converter, cam, studs, etc. etc. Don't ask me how it runs. It's been sitting for 5 years now - the 6.0 is still on the engine stand. Other priorities.

I hope I can remember where everything came from - assuming I ever get around to finishing it, that is...

Yup, I had a project like that once. The secret to getting started again is to dedicate 30-60 minutes every other day for a couple of weeks. I did that by getting up a half hour earlier, cutting my 60 minute morning workouts short by 30 minutes, and heading out to the garage for an hour. Even if all you do is install a few bolts, it's progress that adds up quicker than you think it will. You'll have it done in no time and be surprised when you do.
